It really bugs me when people use glue + screws. The huge advantage of screws is being able to disassemble things later on without causing (much) damage; adding glue to the mix takes that away.

I majored in a STEM field and earned enough in the first year of working after graduation to cover all of my college expenses. Knowing what I know now (about applying for jobs, internships, faking interest in monotony, etc), I could have covered almost all of my tuition just through summer internships/REU's. In-state

I have a pretty similar collection of bike tools for commuting to work with, except I bring CO2 instead of a pump.

Household projects: replacing/upgrading windows & doors, anything concrete-related, stepping stone projects to living off the grid, CNC, and tips on how to convince your significant other to let you replace the front lawn with a vegetable garden.

You could inject epoxy into the core along the break to join the pieces back together. I've got a few carbon/foam sandwich panels laying around that used a grid of relief cuts (in the foam) to make it more flexible until the resin cured, so it's probably no big deal. The fiberglass is handling the majority of the load

Not sure where you're planning on buying from, but the Menard's in town was running an 11% (mail in rebate) off everything this spring (Memorial Day?). That coincided with 5% cash back at home improvement stores from Discover, so 16% savings. I'm not sure if that would save $6 on insulation though :(

Its just called "Sport-Wash", made by Nathan (the same company that makes water bottles). It doesn't say anything about enzymes on the bottle so there must be some other magic going on.

Not sure if you're referring to shoes or food. Regardless, anything we spend more than a trivial amount on is open to criticism, so there should be a good reason for the purchase. There's a budget for eating out, clothing, etc so this was permission to spend without going against that budget.

I should've added the disclaimer: she was pregnant at the time. So food was a huge motivator and maternity clothes have enough give to handle copious burrito consumption :)

Good to know! The regular detergent we have works perfectly fine for sweat, but for whatever reason that sunscreen smell was immune to its cleaning powers. I'll have to look for something with enzymes when we run out of the special detergent!

While going through bins of old stuff in the garage, I stumbled upon my wife's collection of shoes from high school/college. My original offer didn't work (for every 3 pairs of shoes she donates/tosses she could get a new pair at some point in the future with no questions asked). My second offer resulted in 15 pairs

I play team sports so this can't really apply to me. One team's green, one's grey, one's red, one's blue, etc. Instead, I have clear plastic bins that stay in the laundry room next to the dryer sheets that I keep workout clothes in. Biking clothes, cold weather gear, soccer jerseys all neatly organized. I guess if you

Is there a good way to suggest this to someone (a spouse for example) who insists more sleep = better sleep? Also, how would this work if I want to be up at 4:15, but my spouse wants to sleep until 7? Different bed times?

Compression shorts (as underwear) and shorts with built-in liners are great for preventing exposure during exercise (leg press, for example).

Not a whiteboard solution, but I've used bath crayons to write down notes, to-do lists, etc in the shower. There are also waterproof pens/markers that are alcohol soluble (no idea what chemicals are in the ink) that'd work on practically any surface.

Oh definitely. Those kits look like they pack really well and make finding things much easier.

That's a lot of stuff to carry. We have a shower and locker room at work, so I leave my shoes, face & body wash, deodorant, sunscreen, towel, pants & belt, and a few other miscellaneous items in my locker. I also leave a cheap lock on the bike rack so I don't have to worry about bringing that along (disclaimer: there

Looks like I'm late to the party. Any speed increasing tips for someone who's not buoyant (when wetsuits aren't allowed, specifically)?

Plus garbage day turns it into an awesome slalom course.

Re: Software. This could be huge, especially if you have to upgrade from a personal license to professional/commercial.
