"Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work."

So let me get this straight. These people don't believe in evolution because it doesn't work like it does on the Pokemon cartoon?

Great article. You wouldn't believe how fickle car buyers are. I see it every day, I swear that people do not think more than 2 months ahead when buying a car.

Prolonging loan repayment: Don't push your student loans to the side right after college. It's important to get those paid off quickly, so that you can avoid paying extra money in interest over the years. Who wants to keep paying off student loan debts in their 40s?

The idea that double spacing aids readability is not backed by any study I've ever seen. I'm just over 50, was taught to double space, and did so for decades. Having since learned a good deal about typography and readability in my work, I came to a moment when I had to reconcile my double space after the period with

why not 2 for the end of a sentence since you would leave a longer pause when speaking?

I'll chime in:

Preview will handle nearly every type of file you throw at it and the PDF markup options are really powerful. Couldn't work without it.

I don't have children so toys are out, but can someone give me an idea of stuff you end up tagging for donation on a weekly basis? It sounds like a nice plan, but are you actively looking in a place, (like the kitchen, etc.?) and choosing an item per day for purging? Thanks for your suggestions, just wondering...

The sizing advice for Mountain Bikes is hugely oversimplified... The Seat tube measurement is often the least important aspect of the bicycle's geometry when it comes to the majority of mountain biking disciplines.

I'm a huge advocate for getting rid of a second car if possible. Especially if you live in a small to mid sized town. I live in Fort Collins, CO (a city near 200k people so it's not huge by any means) and often (especially for trips less than 4 miles) riding a bike takes little to no extra time. In fact one of the

Why not? It'll be great for commuting, good mileage, low price point. And it's cute.

My husband and I have lived without a car in Minneapolis/St Paul since 1997 - but there are several factors that have enabled us to do so. 1) We don't have children. I don't think going carless would have been realistic if we did. 2) We live in the city, not the suburbs, and have ready access to operating transit

I looked at the public transportation tool and according to it, I can't get to work from home (20 minute drive) in three hours (its maximum). I'm sure it's not completely accurate, but still. I'd probably have to both move and get a new job to have any hope of not having a car. Not that I really want to, but still.

As an engineer, I approve this message:

Based on my consumption of pizza, my team would be me and one other person... or me and morning-cold-pizza-for-breakfast me.

Cellphone insurance complete waste of $

I tend to always do this and have 2 or 3 plates in mind just in case. It helps speed things up a bit. Since a lot of waiters will essentially rush you; even if you haven't been to a place before. I like having this out of the way initially.

Current location: 120 inches of snow a year. Desired location <6 inches of snow a year. Can't be any more to the point than that.

If you are under a car to change a tire you are doing it wrong.
