In a couple of the shots, particularly in the one where he's aiming the gun, the background is strongly reminiscent of the "Archangel" recruitment mission in ME2.

This reminds me of the album "Digital Gangster" by MC Lars and YTcracker. There are several tiers for buying the album, from $1 for just the download, to the (I think) $1,000 special edition that includes them flying in to play a show for you.

That made me giggle like an idiot. Thanks!

Now playing

I love me some Omodaka. An ex-girlfriend showed me a few songs of theirs several years ago, simultaneously stimulating my interest in both classical Japanese music and chiptune music.

It only has one save file, but there are two nameable main characters. It could have been the player character and the "Rival" that had the two familiar names.

Jesus. Lighten up, dude. Calling someone a "stupid asshole" because of a video game says more about you than about them.

"Kotaku users, take some notes here: This is a proper response, like something a human being might say."

Anyone here from Massachusetts? Keith Apicary is playing a show here in Framingham on Sunday, at a local store/arcade called Game Underground.

Goodness. I don't know if I'd ever pay that much for a game without being completely certain I'd like it. It would have to be an otherwise unobtainable Metroid or Zelda, or something of that same caliber. When I see a three-digit price tag on a game, it's usually at that point that I admit defeat and satisfy myself

Why wouldn't Samus have her armor, though? She only goes Zero Suit in emergencies. I'm pretty sure she would have remembered to pack the Power Suit before shipping off to war with a team of badasses.

Does a typical Japanese game really cost the equivalent of $100 at launch? That doesn't seem right to me. I've imported lots of Japanese games, and the only time I've come close to paying $100 for a single game was for a particular title that had been out of print for a few years.

Samus has always been characterized as a lone wolf-type badass, with only small glimpses of her personal relationships. I think it's just fine to keep it that way.

No, it's Majora's Mask "Ben Drowned" story. Creepy as hell, and worth a read.

Doesn't matter where you got it, as long as you enjoyed it! After it has served its initial purpose of rewarding its creators' efforts (financially or otherwise), to be enjoyed and appreciated is the purpose of any legitimate piece of art.

No Jedi Knight? Come on, that game was pure gold. If choosing between the Good Side and the Dark Side wasn't enough of a moment, then surely the "falling ship" stage deserves some recognition.

Physical injury from the first Mario Party was such an issue that Nintendo offered an official "Mario Party glove," actually a repackaged golf glove, for free to anyone requesting it. I got one after responding to the offer, having read about it in Nintendo Power magazine.

I owned a few of these. None of them were terrible. The Superpad 64, however, was absolutely excellent. Nintendo-published games were, of course, designed with the standard 3-pronged N64 controller and, as such, played best with it. For everything else, I used my Superpad 64. In fact, when its stick finally wore out

To me, this game is a precious relic of its era. If not for its quality, then for the hype it generated surrounding its release.

Several people have mentioned it already, but...

I've seen them live a few times, and they've had CDs for sale. Maybe it's not heavily advertised through their site, but I can assure you that I've got an official Anamanaguchi CD in my collection.
