Very simple solution: buy a rice cooker. Short grain rice, beans, lentils, potatoes, onions, etc. are all extremely cheap and you just drop ‘em in the rice cooker with some water and press a button.

There already are donate buttons and sadly nobody uses them. Even authors of some of the most popular mods that have been downloaded millions of times have only ever received a tiny handful of donations.
Sure a larger percentage for the mod author would be great, but it’s not unethical. And you got it backwards.
If someone is willing to pay for a Falkor inspired dragon mod, why not? If nobody wants to buy it, it won’t sell. Look at all the ridiculous crap people pay for in Bioware DLC.
I doubt any mod author is sitting around thinking “I worked hard on this, so dammit I deserve to be paid.” More like “I wish I could spend more time making mods, but it takes a long time to finish stuff because I have this day job thingy.”
