Very true, the OS has a strong appeal for many consumers.

They have appealing external chassis and display and serve as status symbol for some consumers, but sadly the MBP line has become rather substandard when it comes to professional creative applications: video editing, motion graphics, etc., not to mention gaming.

Macs used to be designed with the creative professional in mind - back in the early 2000s, so many post production houses and design studios splurged on beefy Mac Pro workstations with OS-exclusive software like Final Cut Pro, Apple Motion, etc., and it was how we got work done in those days.

Macs are particularly bad for running games, but the top Nvidia laptop GPUs (like 980M, 980 mobile, 1070 mobile, 1080 mobile) are significantly faster than the vast majority of desktop GPU models.

Simple reason for this.
