The twin turbo is a gem. Maybe it’s not reliable, but it sounds great and has a seamless torque band and is a glassy smooth Inline-6 (the best engine configuration) and has just enough power. It’s why “motor” is in BMW’s name and a great example of what makes their cars so great.
I agree! I bought a 2009 135i convertible with 34k miles for $20,000. It’s genuinely fun to drive (six speed manual, thank you) in a variety of situations. And it can do the long haul trips better than the other sports cars I have owned like the Miata, Z3, and MGB I have owned.
Sorry—incorrect punctuation. It should have been:
Keep the ‘Vette.
Jason, they are offering The Jetsons on iTunes. You should watch it. So much is so accurate, like Jane experiencing repetitive stress injuries in her finger from all of the button pushing of her automated lifestyle in the very first episode. And the ethics of the treatment of Rosie. And the handy add ons for cars like…
Back when they first came out a dude brought one to the BMW autocross. It was hilarious. Sure, it was quick off the line but it did not want to turn. I wish I had some photos (not allowed while corner working).
Do you think we are going to have to get used to weirdness like little periscopes protruding from the car? Somewhere between the crazy dome on the roof of some of Google’s cars and the completely incognito (but apparently not always effective) Tesla? Like years from now you will be at a swap meet and someone will be…
This sounds weird and hyper specific but the last gen had the best back end around. Very clean and sharp expression on a part of a car that is hard to get right and frequently ignored.
Yes! The Ford GT segment was the best car video I have seen in years. I thought I knew that story cold, but I learned a thing or two and watching the driving segments with James really is the answer to “I wonder what it would be like if a regularly skilled car geek like me drove a GT40?”
Love the photo of the Zenith Strombergs. Don’t love actual Zenith Strombergs. Do any of you remember what it used to be like when every time you cranked the car you were relieved (and a little surprised) it started?
It turns out that Uber’s $2,000,000,000 losses this year are due to one driver’s Jaguar repairs.
This just came on at the bar.
Let’s just say that my MGB had enough electrical challenges to prevent it from starting.
Yeah, that’s not ideal, especially for a bus where the driver gets out once a day but drops off many passengers.

Oh, sure, this was better than the completely fabricated Adobe challenge. Seriously! It was way better. And car related!
I hope that guy randomly soldering those two heavy gauge wires into the middle of the green board isn’t working on my car.
Lease! I have always bought my cars then I bought a Fiat 500x. 3 days later I was t-boned at an intersection and it took 5 months to fix and cost me $5,000 in depreciation. Also, it’s a Fiat and though I love the car it instantly depreciated $8,000 even before it was hit.
The new American non-stig should consider getting a full face helmet. Please.
