The issue isn’t the size, its that what makes up that size is boring, repetitive, and tedious. I haven’t played Valhalla, but in Odyssey the desire to explore died for me very early, because there was never anything interesting to find. Its just icon chasing.

Typical Jalopnik hit piece on Tesla.

Except those comments were not arguing whether FSD was engaged or not.  They were operating under the assumption that it WAS on, and STILL blaming the accident on other drivers.

You assume that just because the driver said FSD was engaged does NOT mean that’s the actual truth.

$1 BOGO Wendy’s Chicken Sandwiches

Watching the video.... I’d say ALOT of those drivers involved in the accident could have stopped well before they did.  Like the reaction times were so bad that at least one of them was distracted driving.

Seeing as how he stepped out of his car while cars were still piling up behind it, he’s definitely a moron of the purest breed. He’s lucky there was no truck incoming or he would have been swept away in a torrent of crushed cars.

Just set the laws such that not providing the data means that Tesla takes full liability.  And if they provide the data and FSD is found to be at fault, give them limited liability (i.e. caps on damages).  Make it in their best interest and they’ll comply.

I mean yes. But up until FF7 Remake we did have a small golden period where every mainline single player Final Fantasy game was available on PS, Xbox, & PC. So I don’t think people were too unreasonable to expect that even with recent renewed interest in selling Sony exclusivity it doesn’t need to sell that it would

+100. I’m also tired of this mentality where we throw up our hands and say “Nothing could be done.” No, drive like the driver in front of you might stop for any dumb reason and this won’t happen to you. A couple of those cars were right on the ass of the car in front of them.

I’ll give it to you that the first collision points to the Tesla driver at fault.

Alright, I was on the Tesla bashing train for a good while when this news broke, but now that I watch the video I see less “FSD is to blame!” than hundreds of people being used to following too closely while traveling too fast and being distracted.

Yup... we can’t discount the possibility that the driver in the Tesla was an idiot.

Are you 100% sure that the car had FSD engaged when the accident happened? Because that is what the headline and article imply. Or does it just “appear” that way?

The “strictly-functional” view of rest stops may change with the advent of EVs. If a stop winds up taking 15-30 minutes users may want broader options of things to do while they wait.

“we know its an SUV,”

i don’t think those standards are antiquated or unreasonable. i agree that if an EV doesn’t have a third row, isn’t RWD or AWD, and doesn’t touch 3 tons with all of its batteries, it shouldn’t be called an SUV. i think it would be good to make ground clearance a factor and require 3 out of 4 of those qualifiers

I think I read on this site (very recently in fact) that the average transaction price for a new vehicle last year (2022) reached something crazy like $46,000?

But that $40k buyer may be swayed into buying an EV due to the tax break that reduces the net cost verus buying a gas crossover in the low 30k range. The average car goes for about $36k-ish so having the tax credit get EVs closer or below average is smart for the typical buyer.  I agree there needs to be more EVs in

Lots of misinformation here.
