The reason a lot of people do it when Jezebel posts an article about obesity and health complications is because a lot of articles on Jezebel have a habit of calling things that talk about the negative repercussions of being fat, fat-shaming.

Given the huge and rising number of obese people, I think a lot of people do need a lecture on how being massively overweight is bad for you. Probably not from me. The department of health should be doing that, but wait, anti-obesity campaigns are considered fat-shaming too, never mind.

I always thought so too. Until I started reading Jezebel. Then I realized that anything that points out that being overweight has negative consequences is fat-shaming.

I know what fat-shaming is, but Jezebel writers apparently don't. I have lost count of the number of articles where pointing out that obesity is harmful was deemed fat shaming or studies that relate to obesity were classified as biased simply for pointing out that being obese has negative repercussions.

I don't disagree with the intent of the program but I disagree that this teaches the doctors anything at all. Wearing a fat suit doesn't tell them anything about weight loss.

Make up your mind Jezebel! Is it fat-shaming to point out that being fat is bad for you or can we point out that "seemingly simple things — lying flat, getting comfortable in a chair, having blood pressure taken — can become complicated or difficult for a person carrying more weight."?

Life begins at conception but there is nothing special about life itself, someone can be clinically dead but still alive by biological standards. If we found microbes on Mars, we would say we found life on Mars. What we are really looking for is sentience, not life. We want to know at which point the fetus becomes a

"Some people do, children, the mentally ill, the disabled, employees,"

I thought the issue was that the plantation's website said that the slaves were "willing workforce" not that it had been a plantation. I don't think that people would have been so upset if the plantation website hadn't glossed over slavery. My ancestors worked in a sugar plantation and suffered a lot of discrimination

Uh, so this person cancelled the thing she was doing when she learnt about its history. How is this systemic racism? I had heard of neither the singer nor the plantation before today, why would she know about it unless someone told her? It's not like that plantation is a really famous icon.

Then use the term "bully" instead of asshole. And even so, learning to stand for yourself is an important part of life, it's impossible for someone to "turn every interaction with others into control and abuse" unless those people are enabling them, you don't need laws to protect yourself from those people. Some

I do hope you are trolling. If not, then you are a seriously messed up individual. Being an "asshole" shouldn't illegal. And even if in some dystopian universe, it, the police did have the right to arrest people for being an "asshole", prison isn't a solution. The government isn't here to correct problems in human

"Obese" can mean quite a few things. As one of those foreigners who was shocked at how fat people were when I came to the US, I can tell you that I hadn't see anyone bigger that a US size 18 in my country or any of the other ones I had been to. Yes, other countries have similar obesity rates but few countries have so

That's not my way of looking at it, that's what people in CA told me and some of those people were from the Midwest. And it still doesn't change the fact that most names come with stereotypes attached.

Just because I wasn't born in the US doesn't mean that I didn't learn about the country after moving to the US. From what people I've met here have told me, once you've seen part of the midwest, you've seen it all. If you want a list of names, here's a good place to start:

Midwest names have their own stereotypes...

Mocking people and mocking their names isn't the same, I realize that you can't see this objectively, but if your name is stupid, yes, I will make fun of your parents. I wouldn't be rude enough to do it to you personally, but the "what they hell were they thinking?' thought will cross my mind. I didn't even say ghetto

And yet, you continue to ignore the fact that

You mean, that paragraph you typed when you thought I did care was well-reasoned?
