I’ve met several engineering consultants who opted to buy and live out of a camper instead of a a hotel or apartment when working a job—-typically for factory or processing plant startups around the country. Apparently it ends up being a LOT cheaper.

That just sent a shiver down my spine. I hope to god neither of my [baby-boomer, recently divorced] parents get bit by this bug. I can particularly see my mother jumping on this band wagon (err. trailer?) and it’d be quite challenging to talk her out of it.

Same. It’s a perfect balance (for a DD) of being responsive without being “nervous.

I’ve always put it in the same category as monster truck competitions.

Now playing

Also, the Presidents of the USA started ending ‘Lump’ with the “How ‘bout that” line from Al’s parody version at live shows . I always took that as very high praise for ‘Gump’.

I really fell for this honest-AF pickup the last time it was ALMOST sold here. Still want one:

Well, that does make it a good match for the rider pictured here.

I would pay actual real money to see follow-up video of the aftermath.

That the pallet crushed just enough to act as a cradle, barely keeping the boulder centered in the bed, was a minor miracle in and of itself!

I have a Ranger resembling that model, complete with “Sport” suspension (see graphic on fender). I can tell you from experience that one scoop of mulch (a yard) drops the bed by at least half it travel potential...It’s a very softly sprung truck!

Fun bit of trivia: Obama started wearing a single suit design every day as president. He said he had to make so many decisions every day as President that eliminating just one—picking an outfit—was worth it.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. You’re right, she doesn’t have to justify herself with listing merits (good word choice!), and some commenters are assuming the worst. It could very well be that Talula makes 60% of her income doing art and 40% from bartending. We definitely don’t know and have no right to

My take-away after reading these comments is that what we think defines us is debatable, and different from person to person, and probably varies across cultures as well. If someone asks me what I do, or who I am, I reply “engineer.” I’m also an avid photographer and a very good carpenter. I’m more passionate about

If only you’d used “music video director” instead of “artist” your point would still stand. I mean, are there any famous music video directors who never got paid to do that thing?

Indeed. Here in Cincinnati we have Appalachian populations that have lived along the Ohio River for generations. Developers have been slowly pushing them out to build fancy riverfront condos and such. A whole community is being displaced.

I just hate that my liberal enclave of a city turns into The Dukes of Hazzard once you get 5 miles outside the city limits.

Once I pointed out Tom’s middle tooth to my wife, it’s all she could see for the remainder of the film.

Yep, you get it. It’s expensive being poor. Poor people often can’t afford the time or money to fight BS fines and sometimes struggle to get the money to pay them on time, leading to penalty fees or loss of license and then the cycle repeats. That’s what the whole lawsuit is about.

Good idea. It would be a good (less depressing!) change of pace to read some success stories.

Came here for this. Love my blue/red bezel diver with brown leather Barton band! You can still find the Japan-made variants if you hunt around a bit.
