I was in Dublin, Ireland on business a couple weeks ago and spent a good amount of time in cab there (a Skoda Octavia, noice!). According to the driver, they used to have a medallion system, but it was problematic, so the government changed the system to something else—I think it was an annual fee instead.

“The dog show judging in this film is depicted completely accurately as done at shows around the world; and was performed by professional and highly respected dog show judges.”

I might have been more convinced if not for the camera setup. It would surprise me that they’d have a steadycam operator standing at the ready during an a sit-down interview segment. Perhaps some industry pros can weigh in, but I’d assume they rely on dollied cameras (or even stationary?) for interviews. Maybe a boom

Credit where it’s due, though a pic of him actually driving stick would be more convincing.

I really like McKinnon, and two years ago I was all, “she’s the best thing to happen to SNL in a decade!” However, I now concede that while her character work was great, it hasn’t grown or changed and her bits have felt stale this season. The crazy eyes aren’t enough anymore. I feel the same way about Wiig—I’m a fan,

Thanks for reviewing another season, Mr. Perkins. I always enjoy your reviews after watching each episode.

Two things:

I can’t say by how much, but the southern cooking bit was definitely WAY shorter than planned on account of Schumer not being familiar with how a Ninja blender works. It’s obvious that she was supposed to blend the pecan pie into the smoothy but couldn’t operate it. I recognized the blender as a Ninja because I also

Agreed. Gardner is awesome talented and I think she’ll eventually be McKinnon-level star of the show...but this bit ground to a halt once her character went from vapidly condescending to mopey and tearful. She stated strong, and ended okay, but the middle was dull and long.

There was a story that went along with that Bentley. Reportedly it was owned by a Hyundai executive or something.

Are you suggesting a guy, married with three kids, couldn’t be a professional windsurfer? :-D

I would love to see this dissected further, because you make a very good point.

Good friend of mine, who’s been a cop for 10+ years now told me having a dog is the single best deterrent to would-be burglars/home invaders.

I felt an opportunity was missed there. That would have been a good gag, but at the same time it would have come at the expense of the privacy that I suspect they find to be important (I think it takes a level of real crazy for any famous person to make their private life public, so I respect that).

While you are correct, I suspect word choice came down to comedic impact over accuracy. To the broad audience, “suicide doors” had more comedic punch, especially given the hardcore image projected by Migos. It’s underpants vs underwear.

I know I’m going to get some eye rolls for this, but my love and adoration for my father’s ‘93 Prelude VTEC when I was a teenager definitely influenced my decision to buy a BRZ. These cars have so much in common that I am surprised I haven’t seen the comparison drawn previously!

It wouldn’t work. No one wants a Stefon that becomes a dynamic character. His whole appeal is how charmingly, yet obliviously, disconnected he is from he peers (at the weekend update desk, anyway).

13 minutes is being generous. This tactic is also what drove me away from shows like Mythbusters. The actual content could be distilled down to about 10 minutes! Also contributed to me ditching cable around 2005.

LOL, that show ran for 2 more seasons AFTER Jr was fired?! That’s impressive.

Super surprising. I thought the BRZ/86 was considered to be somewhat of a sales failure. I say this as the proud owner of a 2013 (pre-ordered, amongst the first owners in my city, even!). But, all I’ve heard about the car since (besides people complaining about it being underpowered) is how slow a seller it is; too
