Hola, crosstalk peeps! How's your Sunday going thus far? Well, I hope. Good! So here's my sitch: I'm always on the prowl for something good to read. Do you guys have any suggestions?
My love. My muse. My sweet comfort during hours that wax long and thin. My cherubic chatterbox chirping throughout the day with the dulcet melodies of news, entertainment, and randomness.
Earlier this week the idea of a Texas meet-up was floated around here on the sub-blogs. This is why having just one meet-up in the beautiful Lone Star State is a practical impossibility. Texas is HUGE! Exhibit A:
It's 3 a.m. and I should be asleep, so of course my brain decides to remind me of a tv show instead. A tv show I saw once and now I can't remember what it was. Do you guys know?
Two things. And any GTers out there, I'd especially appreciate your opinions, but I don't have posting privs over yonder. Anyhoo, onward:
So I want to go out for a bike ride right now, since I've been slacking for the past three weeks, but the heat index is currently 102°. One-oh-two!
The US Geological Survey has issued a tsunami warning for much of the western coastline of South America after an 8.2 magnitude quake struck approximately 60 miles off the coast of Chile shortly after 6:45pm local time. The USGS is still evaluating tsunami threats for Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska,…
Oh crap, y'all, there's been an outbreak of Ebola in Guinea that's killed over 75 people. I made the mistake of reading The Hot Zone way back in high school and this virus scares the ever loving shit out of me! And what's worse? This outbreak is Ebola Zaire: the 90% fatal version. The (according to The Hot Zone)…
So I was watching a couple of other shows earlier tonight, so I'm barely watching TWD right now, and holy shit you guise!!! (Spoilers henceforth):
Hi y'all, as you know, I try to keep myself at least a little anonymous here in the gawkerverse...
A sailor was shot and killed by a civilian aboard the USS Mahan, a destroyer, at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia late Monday night. Security forces shot and killed the suspect, and the incident is now under investigation.
A horse and its teen rider were struck by a driver evading police in Houston. Police had tried to conduct a traffic stop when the driver fled, throwing narcotics out of the vehicle as he did so. He then ran a stop sign and struck the horse and rider.
Texas news makes the MP, in a positive way! We're making progress. :-)
So, I haven't eaten yet today and I'm hungry but I'm feeling too blah to go into the kitchen to make something to eat. Everything I have requires actually putting various ingredients together to make a dish... You know, cooking. Sigh
So I bought an apple today (yes, just one), and I wanted some caramel sauce to dip it in. I'm pretty handy in a kitchen, so I figured it'd be easy enough to make some myself...
A driver attempting to evade a DWI checkpoint in downtown Austin early Thursday drove past barricades and into a crowd of South by Southwest revelers exiting The Mohawk, killing two and injuring at least 23 others.
You guys! I love my state! Texas Governor Rick Perry is a guest on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel show (which is airing from Austin thanks to SXSW), and the audience just booed him as he came on stage! Be still, my heart! There's hope for us yet! <3
Evening y'all! Welcome to my first Crosstalk post. Anyone watch the new ABC show Resurrection? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Obligatory spoilers warning.
George Zimmerman, recently acquitted, self-professed kid killer, got stopped for speeding in North Texas on July 28th. In another bit of "are you fucking kidding me" luck, after asking the cop "do you know who I am?" (the cop did not) he got off with only a warning.
