D-Pad Studio could easily write the story AND tell it properly, if Owlboy is anything to go by. That’s what I mean when I say they’ve proven themselves — Owlboy is easily one of the best games I’ve ever played, all stop. It shows a clear grasp of narrative structure, unparalleled world-building, and top-notch gameplay

The fact that this fan-trailer was made by the creator of Owlboy says to me Square Enix should immediately hire D-Pad Studio to make this game on their behalf.

Fun fact: the original Metal Gear was also released in English on the MSX2 in the UK, and while the infamous truck line is corrected in that version, it’s just as amazing in a different way — it reads:

Meanwhile, I just put my Famicom in a permanent spot on my entertainment center, right next to the Super Famicom, MSX2+, PS2, and Wii. ;)

There’s no good central information database or buyer’s guide, unfortunately (I hope to remedy that myself in the future), but the good people of http://www.msx.org are always able to help out with any questions or issues you might have (they’ve saved my bacon a number of times since I started collecting for the

I own 8-Bit Music Power and Kira Kira Star Night DX, and I dunno if these are later reprint versions, but both play 100% perfectly on every system I’ve tried them on. So I think it may have just been the original batch that was bad.

Homebrew games on 8-bit cartridges, in both North America and Japan, aren’t really anything new. I’ve been collecting for the MSX since 2015 — an 8-bit microcomputer line that saw tremendous success in Japan and parts of Europe and west Asia — and there are probably 20-30 new games produced for the MSX each year, with

Do anthropomorphized rodents count? Because if so... I mean, Freya from FF9 is a pretty big one here!

OK, I have a bit of time now, so let’s see if I can explain this. Apologies again for being so vague and kind of “internet troll-y” in my initial response — that’s what I get for writing up a knee-jerk response when I only have a minute or two to work with!

Yeah, I should have explained myself a bit better, I was just somewhat short on time when I wrote that. I’ll try to come up with a more thorough explanation shortly.

If that happens, that will be our fault, not Valve’s. It’s up to the players to curate recommended lists and keep the storefront from getting overwhelmed by shovelware — as it should be, IMHO.

Refusing to sell a product is not censorship in the strictest sense, no. But when you control a platform that represents the vast majority of all PC gaming transactions that occur worldwide, refusing to sell a product is — at the very least — contributing toward censorship culture. You are basically controlling what

Holy crap. Valve... did the right thing! I was SUPER worried here, but this is absolutely the best case scenario IMHO, and a true win for anti-censorship in video games.

I still often think about how survival horror game “Haunting Ground” on the PS2 actually had a dedicated action for petting Hewie, your companion doggo (which was accompanied by a voice of your main character saying “Hewie!” in a really cute way). Game was a bit ahead of its time, I guess!

I hear both “Yanny” and “Laurel” layered on top of one another. There’s a high-pitched voice saying “Yanny” and a low-pitched, bassy voice saying “Laurel,” both speaking at the same time.

Same as Kellen, I had the opposite reaction. I WANTED humanity to be dead in the end of FF7, in fact — I felt like that was an appropriate end to the story, and a thematically powerful one.

“It’s entirely possible Koei Tecmo is speaking to—and wanting to sidestep—differing cultural values in the west, which has seen a shift in attitudes towards media representation of women since Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 came out in 2006.”

Cyndi Lauper is one of the greats. And I mean that not just as a musician, but as a person, too! If you look into her history, and all the charitable work she’s done over the years, she’s pretty much one of the most conscientious and considerate human beings on the planet today. She was a role model to millions of

I really liked McDonald’s Japan’s April Fool’s joke this year, if only for how charmingly stupid it was.
