Do you have kids?

He’s only heard of “don’t tread on me”.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Stop. Making. Stupid. People. Famous.

God forbid we use weight and fuel economy to tax commensurately with a vehicle’s damage to infrastructure and the environment. I, for one, am grateful that the government is finding ways to essentially subsidize my coworkers continuing to commute in their FERD 3500 MASCULINITYWAGONS.

I would feel a lot better about this if they made vehicle weight a factor as well. If we are going to get into the nitty gritty of taxing people based on how much they use the road, then it should account for the exponential increase in wear applied by heavier vehicles.

Tesla should get them back by copying V-dub’s build quality.

Which is hilarious because Volkswagen.

Nostalgia trip: Used to watch SpeedTV’s WRC coverage religiously in the 2000s with Burns, Makinen, Gronholm, Loeb and my all time favorite Solberg. Best coverage of WRC, 1 hour of curated highlight coverage each day of the weekend. Muah. Now I need to go find some old footage.

No. The original comment is not how they work, your rewrite is more how they work. A person doesn’t live nationally, so a national rate is meaningless for an individual’s risk. An individual lives in a specific place, so the proper way to interpret a hyper-local space, ie a shared work environment like an automotive

To be fair, he is also a sociopath.

Anyone who thinks that Elon Musk is anything but a hypercapitalist narcissist is delusional.

Reverse: I find it rather amusing how many of the same conservative and right wing people who complain about “Cancel Culture” were the same ones who canceled the Dixie Chicks.

Well, let’s see:

- Super-rural bus route. I got on the bus at 6:15 (school started at 7:45). Got home around 4:00 (school let out at 2:45). It sucked to live a mile from the bus driver. In elementary school, this meant I missed a lot of the cartoons my friends got to watch. In high school, this meant less time for

Sounds like you want them to cry uncle. You’re right; they’re wrong. I’d prefer the honest answer which is that’s how we designed it. And if you are an engineer that means specs. It was designed to meet.

IMO it’s perfectly reasonable. These things are basically soft-roaders, and the FWD-based systems aren’t really designed for heavy off-roading like true SUVs. Sure they can make it better, but it will also make the cars cost more.

I have opposite view.  People are not going to use these things off-road.  With rare exceptions.  The additional cost of overbuilding will shrink market share.  From a business standpoint it’s way better to disappoint the tiny fraction of buyers who wheel these things than it would be to lose a significant number of

Counterpoint: all marketing is lies, and if you believe anything a marketer says then you are a dumbass. Also, all marketers should walk into the sea and never return.

Overheating after 15min of WOT in the sand is not exactly what I’d call “a huge problem”

What apple could bring, and I wish they would bring but probably can’t because they’d never work with android, is a car OS.

2nd Gear: I will disagree with you on this.

Now he is saying that SAE is wrong, you don’t need to take a bullet for daddy Elon this time
