The latter. In reality, torture is notoriously bad at getting reliable, useful information from the person being tortured. To quote a show that had an actual former spy on-hand to help with the realism (Burn Notice):

Romanticism is the wrong word to use, yeah. It’s just... it feels odd that the loving relationship is showing fewer explicit signs of them being in a relationship than the two rather poor/broken relationships that are in the show.

Reiterating my shout out to Vel and Cinta! There’s more romantic nuance to their very brief conversations about logistics than there is in The Rise Of Skywalker’s abysmal blink-and-you’ll-miss-it stab at “representation,” which was so unashamedly lazy I’d argue it actually did more harm than good.

At the same time, though, its important to recognize that Luthen massively fucked up when he called the disagreements “petty”.

Or that they felt that the expense of the stickers and getting them distributed was enough of a reason to pump the brakes on it.

Its honestly how I approach any open world game like this where you have a selection of vehicles. Since I don’t need to worry about, you know, dying in a firey wreck, a motorcycle that lets me nimbly dodge through traffic is always going to be the way to go.

I get that read of it, but I think its more “look, I can’t say anything here due to an NDA, but I’m not a scab, my history and reputation should make that clear”.

1: 8-9 figures is the budget of the title. It’s a AAA title, after all, even for Nintendo that’s going to be at least in the mid 8-figures.

I think its safe to say that the pay for the most important character in a game with an 8-9 figure budget should probably be more than a single entry-level QA tester will make working on the game for 2-3 months.
