Yup.
Yup.
I think the better question is how many games with pre-announced release windows have hit those windows in the least, say, 2 years?
Yeah, they’re just... ugh. And its not helped by how incredibly dumb the good guys have to act in order to give the bad guys some wins. I topped playing the third time I was going “...so, are we going to do anything to prevent the obvious ambush that’s coming by the bad guys after we get a minor win here? No? Nothing?”
Oh, that’s not all. They have two years of Jones’ text messages.
Two years of text messages.
Honestly, given how the inciting incident as described in the trailer is the heroes “accidentally” helping the BBEG get the McGuffin Of Doom needed to conquer the world, feels safe to say we’re going to be immersed in Tabletop RPG tropes as it is :D.
Yeah, the fact that the reaction to “Oops, the heroes accidentally helped the BBEG get the thingy needed to conquer the world and now have to try to find an undo button” being the purported plot is “...yeah, that sounds like a D&D campaign” from most fans really does tell me they know what they’re doing.
The fact that this is rare and worth reporting on is why e-sports are sports, because so many professional and amateur tournaments and leagues have been run in the last several years without a problem like this happening.
I’d say that Hollywood hurting people is a subtheme to the film, but the main theme feels like its more about, well, animals not being given the respect for how dangerous they can be. It’s why the Chimp Attack is so important and gets called back to so often, its why the film starts off with a horse in a shoot that…
Oh, I’m very much in favor of more box games and fewer microtransactions, personally. I’m just emphasizing the point that, if you’re going to be relying on microtransactions for monetization purposes, especially for live-service type games, it’s extremely important to start planning that stuff out early on in…
I think the right way to approach Monetization in games is to treat it like an architect treats the plumbing, particularly the sewage. It’s not going to be the fun part of the job, but if you aren’t taking it into account early on, you’re liable to have some really serious problems in the long run.
Heh, yeah, 9 out of 10 is probably too high, but its pretty rare for obviously dumb lawsuits to make the press. The actual number isn’t what matters, just the notion that there’s no real value in making up one’s mind this early into things, before any details are released, so we might as well keep an open mind.
When I say that people should reserve judgement on this for now, at least until the actual text of the lawsuit comes out, I do mean exactly that. Anyone who jumps to the “ABBOTT ELEMENTARY IS THE RESULT OF PLAGAIRISM” conclusion is being just as silly, and if more people were doing that I’d be telling them to knock it…
Correct!
It takes time to get a lawyer willing to try the case that you can afford, and the actual lawsuit itself written up. Despite what popular opinion might think about lawsuits, they are not simple things to toss out there.
You should watch Babylon 5, it’s another fantastic show, and while I might prefer DS9, and they absolutely went different places with the general premise, B5 did things Trek never could do, and it was wonderful.
My general rule of thumb when it comes to lawsuits being pressed against massive corporations by individuals that sound ridiculous on the face of it is that, nine times out of ten, there’s details that are going unreported that make the whole thing entirely reasonable.
Sure, but the smart thing here is to reserve judgement. Right now we only have the reports of the lawsuit, not the actual suit itself which would need to detail the similarities.
I mean, you’re not wrong, but lets not forget the pretty homophobic stuff that Blazing Saddles also included. Yeah, it’s a triumph for anti-racist filmmaking, but the gay jokes... did not age well. Or start out well either.
Honestly, I kinda miss the days of the “basically human aliens” being the main trope. It’s not that I don’t find non-humanoid aliens possibly sexy, it’s just that too often they’re made weird and alien for the sake of being weird and alien, without putting too much thought into it.
