After taking care of debt, buying a house and car, and doing a few nice things for friends and family (college funds for the godkids, etc.). I would set up a trust that pays me $70k a year (and adjusts upward for inflation) and then put the rest into a foundation with the task of giving money away. I would help to set

I was thinking about consolidating my variable interest rate loans now that the Fed has started raising rates, but when I started the process I saw that my interest rate would go from 2.3% to 6.8%.

I’ve used this trick while training dogs (which are incredibly good at sensing body language). If I say and/or think what I want the dog to do, I often don’t need to specifically train the animal to a command, they pick up on the body language.

You get out what you put in.

One way to help overcome vacation constipation (VacayConstipay?) is to learn your personal poop triggers. For me there are a few that regularly (ha!) work. For me, the act of making a cup of coffee usually triggers a bowel response, as does going on a walk, but the weirdest and most consistent response for me is when

Ah, reading the law makes it more clear what’s meant by the phrase “same distillery” and my confusion in regards to its application. My apologies for being incorrect.

Get a kettle and some instant coffee. There is no appreciable difference between the quality of the filth that lives in K-Cups and a decent quality instant coffee (not Folgers).

Correction: Single Malt means that the whiskey came from a single batch of malt rather than from several that were blended. Think of a single origin coffee or single varietal wine versus a blend.

My wife and I have an annual retreat where we go over the big conversations. We call it the State of the Marriage retreat because we usually do it around the time of the State of the Union Address and it serves the purpose of recapping what we’ve been doing over the past year and setting goals for the next one. We’re

This dovetails nicely with another piece of relationship advice that has been very helpful to me: schedule the big conversations.

Don’t give up, but also don’t rush.

All of this is good, and helpful, information.

I get the headaches too (along with migraines, yay!), so when I need to cycle my caffeine intake I’ll move from coffee to drinking tea all freaking day long. When I’m at my peak of caffeine tolerance I can drink as much tea as my body can hold without having too much caffeine (jitters) or too little (headache).

If we’re bringing heavy bottles of liquid with us to start a fire while camping maybe the first choice should be a propane bottle with a self-igniting torch nozzle. I’ve been using one to light my campfires for a couple of years now and it’s delightful.

Which would have the same basic effect of creating additional neural pathways to encode the information (visual, physical, and textual). Mine, however, can be done while running down the concourse at a sprint to make it to the gate on time ;)

When something like this comes up I’ll ask the question in three different ways:

Grocery Outlet > Costco for cheap wine. Especially during their regular 20% off sale.

For us (my wife and I) it started when she lost her job due to the Great Recession. In May of 2009 we found ourselves both unemployed and homeless — and with no cable subscription.

So you know the video embed is keyed to start at almost the end of the video.
