You can also middle-click instead of Ctrl-click to open new tabs. That realization changed my world.

I have a high-resolution external display connected to my laptop, so I have to set the scaling somewhere in the middle so the lappy is usable without the display attached.
One tip for Chrome is setting the zoom for pages to something comfortable (I’m using 150%). In the advanced settings you can customize the zoom so…
It’s a great idea to schedule talks about money (and all sorts of potentially awkward conversations) so that the emotions of the moment don’t kill any productivity.
It’s also good to have a budget in place already so that when the conversation does come up at a time when you’re tired you’ve already made the decision…
Huh.
That’s new to me.
I guess it makes sense if you shop at Target (or Nordstsom) a lot — and if you trust them to keep your bank information safe.
Getting better at managing passwords feels like tricking out my horse buggy in 1910. I can’t believe we still use passwords for so much. They are an antiquated tool that (due to their relative difficulty) often reduce security rather than enhance it.
So Target is your bank? How do they have a debit card?
I refuse to get a store credit card so most of those loyalty benefits are not available to me.
I eventually learned those lessons, but not until I had a big pile of debt to clean up.
I’m glad that you didn’t have to make any mistakes to learn those things. Unfortunately not everyone is so lucky.
What I find to be far more helpful (and what helped me to eventually get out of debt) was people who said to me that…
I get the annoyance. I’d rather things be upfront too. But in the end Amazon is providing a really great service that no one else has been able to compete with. That’s enough for me.
I rarely buy new clothes so that’s not a major concern for me (and probably why the original post didn’t resonate with me since they are mostly clothing retailers).
I’m happy to let a company make a profit if they do so by making me happy. Amazon is winning at that (for now).
Yeah, I’ve seen that. I have used private browsing to double-check the prices on Amazon. Even when the price is higher, though, it’s still most often a better deal to buy it from Amazon with free shipping than to deal with Target or Best Buy.
Bravo. Thank you for saying this, Eric.
I was told that I needed a credit card for emergencies, so I got one when I was 18. I used it to put gas in my car to get to work when there was a glitch with the paychecks (I was naive and thought it was simply a glitch). When I was laid off after that (without being paid for…
TL;DR
I had no idea about the Household option and we were just dealing with that a few days ago (logging in to my account on my wife’s computer so we could watch instant video).
I prefer to think of wealth as the ability to do what I want (taken from Tim Ferris).
So I can maximize my wealth by using the tools I have to do what I want:
A healthy relationship can’t be based on transactions (i.e. if you do this, then I’ll do this).
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I haven’t been able to sleep at nights wondering about this person running while unconscious.
“most people unconsciously land a little softer...”
I would add that when giving and receiving feedback it’s important to recognize who is responsible for the work. Oftentimes feedback can get really messy when the one offering it does so as if they are the ones doing the work.
One of the main ways that we can manufacture GMOs is by using bacteria as templates to insert the DNA we want into the host. Guess how we figured this out. By observing it in nature.
We also observed cross-breeding in nature and have harnessed that on an industrial scale.
All throughout nature DNA is swapped between…
