Having played Civilization since its inception, there is nothing wrong with CivV. I like it and the two expansions they have for it so are great.

I got a refund about a month after release (I love Amazon) because it was crap.

I will get this on PS3, but PC games will always be superior to console. Not only are the graphics better, the games that allow mods increase the playability of the game miles beyond any console game can. I prefer PC over Console if I have a choice.
