Lots of vehicles have this issue. And it’s painfully obvious on some. Honda Civic (current generation), 3 Series BWM (current and previous generation) are first ones that come to mind. Look at them from the side and the artificially lifted hood height basically slaps you in the face.

Oh i agree, but given the low friction coefficient of street surfaces covered in snow, not a lot of wear going on if you’re in area that rarely gets snow. And if you’re in an area that gets a lot of snow (or snows often) then you should have snow tires and can thus avoid this maneuver altogether! See? haha.

And yet, for the most part, modern headlights don’t provide better visibility than older ones.  So maybe they should stay larger...and provide better visibility.  Just a thought (of course wouldn’t surprise me if that’s some stupid regulation thing).

It’s one Golf model of many, look elsewhere for the hybrid.

I think the headlight height stayed the same.  Pretty sure the hood height went up.

Not really sure how the interior is nicer and more ergonomic.

Mostly agree, other than the pad shoe comments.  Those things basically last forever anyway so I don’t think it’ll matter much.
