My dad had a ‘98 base model. Used to love driving it. Was interesting to drive it back to back with my ‘92 GS-R. It’s torque is nice but overall I preferred the lighter weight of the GS-R. Blows my mind how cheap these are currently selling for (Preludes).

Of course but it’s not a straight comparison like other goods are. A 1990 Civic had 80 hp and manual everything. Meanwhile today the price is similar (AFI) but you get LOTS more power and standard features. We’re not seeing that with the Supra, so....

Yeah I get that, except the 1990 325ix had maybe 180 hp, and the 340xdrive has 300-330 (can’t remember). Meanwhile the new Supra isn’t going to have anywhere near double the power of the MKIV.

Inflation adjustment for cars is and always has been bullshit. Even more so if you ignore the economics of mid 90s Japan. In 1994 a Corvette cost $35,000. Today it’s $55,000...OMG how do they do it????

As someone that loves loud screaming engines, the current engines suck. And the focus on fuel consumption bores me as well. Bring back refueling, and to hell with monitoring fuel consumption.

The 22B is an amazing car, and stands to highlight how pathetic Subaru’s motorsports/enthusiast side is these days. Never has the brand been more popular, more profitable...and cared less about enthusiasts and motorsports. Incredible.

On the flip side I also know friends that bought sports cars with manual transmissions...when they didn’t even know how to drive manual transmissions.

Leave car standards alone, but tighten the noose on light duty “trucks”. That would have a far greater impact on the nation’s oil consumption.

A lot of that comes down to what dealerships keep in stock. In most cases, mostly autos. If you look at sports/sporty cars that are ONLY available with manual transmissions, in most cases their sales seem just fine.

Mine performs on road courses just fine without an LSD.

That’s only an issue if you use R-comp tires or add aftermarket aero to significantly increase your cornering speeds.

Actually most sports cars are purchased by people that enjoy having fun with their cars. Very few people care if a car hits 60 in 3.5 seconds instead of 4.0. Especially those of us that take ours to race tracks.
