Tipping doesn't make up the wages of the wait staff the way it does in the USA but it's considered very bad manners not to tip (unless the service is terrible). The customary tip is 10%. We don't tip at bars, however.
I've never tried Vegemite but I think it's the same sort of deal. Best when spread very thinly on hot buttered toast. And completely wonderful.
You take that back! Marmite is the greatest. But I can't imagine how horrifying it would be to bite into a Marmite sandwich when you're expecting jam.
