Not necessarily true. As a current US Navy officer, I will say that from time to time, when conducting humanitarian missions, we will eschew military uniforms if there’s a thought that it might make the local population uneasy or unaccepting of us. I can imagine Picard taking the same precaution when spending time Read more

It’s a slow burn but I’m enjoying Picard. I think a lot of people are having issue with the slow burn being on a weekly basis rather than just binging it all at once. I’d also like to point out that like Discovery, Picard is likely going to be a whole season story of what would have been a two part episode of TNG. The Read more

I’m particular enjoying this fan theory that Rios himself is a hologram and the ship they are on the La Sirena is actually Rios’ previous ship that was stricken from the record the Ibn Majid. Like it was some ship designed to have an all holographic crew except for the captain and it had issues after that organic Read more

I was almost shouting at Picard in this episode. He is sitting there with Elnor. And Elnor keeps asking him, “Why ME? Why do you want ME?” I wanted Picard to say, “Because you are like a son I have lost.” But, it’s like it never occured to Jean-Luc that Elnor needed to hear, needed to know, if there was anything like Read more

Could we please get less spoiler-y headlines and photos for those of us who can’t watch it the second it drops on CBS All Access...?

I was spoiled on Captain Jack by someone tweeting at Barrowman on the DW tag. I need to remember to keep the fuck away from Twitter in that five-hour window.

Agreed. In the time it took to log in to iPlayer on Monday morning I’d already seen it spoilt (on fb rather than io9). It would have been much better to have gone in cold and been surprised. This sort of article really needs to be behind spoiler filters, because with the best will in the world, not everyone can watch Read more

I knew about it long before I got to io9, pretty sure the BBC was advertising it on Facebook (like they did the Master). No one is bothering with spoiler protection this year - it is quite annoying and frustrating.

Man for real. I’m not usually one to get worked up about spoilers, but, it really would have been nice to have watched this one cold.

Even if that idea wasn’t going to be used in the original series, it was a huge plot thread in the 1990s expanded universe novels.  Those books are not compatible with the TV canon anymore, but elements from them have turned up in the revival before (with “Human Nature”/”The Family of Blood” an actual adaptation of Read more

Something that always troubled me about Doctor Who was the very idea that Time Lords could travel literally into any corner of the space-time continuum, which meant that, even after The Time War, shouldn’t there have been Time Lords still kicking around in some distant places? Read more

I would LOVE to see Bo-Katan, especially if they have Katee Sackhoff playing her, but Moff Gideon even possessing the Darksaber would seem to imply that she is pining for the fjords as it were...
