Unfortunately, Maddox fell prey to her Vagenda.

I was getting the vibe here that Picard wanted to say, “Because you were like a son to me and I came all this way to find you again.” or something similar. His pride, guilt and sorrow forbade it. And Elnor wanted to ask him to say it. And Elnor even wanted to say, “I wanted to go with you because you’re like a father… Read more
Even more so with the background of how Jeri Ryan had to find the character again to play the role. I gotta say she was, to me, the best actress on Voyager. There was an article on it some months ago on io9 if you look for it.
I wish I could have seen it better. There was the signature red bussard collectors and blue of a federation designed warp drive on it. But it was giving me a vibe like a Gryphon-Class heavy fighter from the old TNG playstation game, Star Trek: Invasion
The re-emergence of Picard’s snark is gold any time we see it. Sassy Picard is epic.
As for his lecturing of Elnor... That may have been both the shock of seeing the boy he once read The Three Musketeers to brutally and efficiently decapitate a guy right in front of him when Picard seemed to be gearing up to sacrifice… Read more
That felt more to me like a re-establishment of the Arthur C. Clarke mature old man explorer and learner archetype, clothing-wise. Though it also had just the right hints of arrogant colonizer saviour-ness to it. He made it look good, and I’m fine with it. It made the statements it needed to make.
I’m pretty sure I don’t know what I want til I see a bit of it and have enough to make a decision. I know I’d seen enough nu-trek by the end of Into Darkness to know it wasn’t my steez. It was sad to realize, but I was okay with it. I’d given it a shot. And I thought it was a fair one. It just didn’t feel like Trek to… Read more
I’m honestly getting an Arthur C Clarke-ian vibe off of Jean Luc here. Which was an archetype the fellow was always meant to evoke. Not the Kirk/Horatio Hornblower action captain type that Riker was created to be in service to. The expedition coat and hat feels like the sort of thing you’d see in a relief effort. ...… Read more
Ship-wise... I wish I’d been able to get a closer look at Seven’s single-ship before it broke up. I couldn’t make it out.. but I was getting the feel of a fighter-craft instead of a shuttle/runabout combination. The sort of thing a Red Squadder might have tooled about in. Or maybe one of those deals from the old… Read more
The ship is giving me Star Trek: Renegades vibes... but that’s not a bad thing. I mean to give the Siren a lot more of a chance before I make up my mind about it. The holographic interfaces smack of Mass Effect to me, which I dig. But it tells me that humans have learned nothing when it comes to losing power and… Read more
Not out of character at all. When Picard is fundamentally hurt, he does not share that pain. He goes and sulks. He retreats into solitude. (See the last time he holed up in Chateau Picard.) He doesn’t talk to people. (See: The Inner Light.) That he’d fall into his own navel is on point for the character.
What my least favorite parts of the FF series say about me. I like to be able to turn off the music at will for obnoxious highly repetitive themes (LOOKING AT YOU, RUMPTY-TUMPTY TRIPLE TRIAD THEME. LOOKING THE FUCK AT YOU, GOLD SAUCER THEME! YOU DESERVE MUCH PAINFUL DEATH HEE-HAW CHOCOBO RACING THEME!!!!)
As well, I… Read more
When it came to the Rise of Skywalker, I was hitting people on facebook with 30 day bans if I SUSPECTED they may not be trustworthy enough about spoilers. For overt ones, I straight up unsubscribed from their pages and warned others to do the same. I honestly hadn’t thought I’d have to do that for Doctor Who, but this… Read more
More like 2.5 than 1.5. There’s precedent for that opportunity in a novel by no less a personage than Terrence Dicks. The CIA snagged 2 and Jamie for a few mission adventures between 2's sentence and his regeneration. And since we never see 2 explicitly turn into 3, there’s your opportunity. Read more
Pretty much. You’d have the danger of the predecessor learning to much about their own future from their inheritor. Though they all contacted up in The Five Doctors.
That’s what really shoots the idea of her being pre-hartnell in the head for me. His 40 didn’t get stuck that way til he ended up in the knacker’s yard. Even in the Terrence Dicks books where the CIA recruited him between his 2nd & 3rd bodies, they GAVE him a Type 97. But they gave him one in the shape of a police box.
You did have the ones who lived in the wastes outside the citadel in ‘The Invasion of Time’. That might be what you’re remembering. Until Ace, I suppose you could hold to the maxim, All Time Lords are Gallifreyan. Not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords.
