Im over 50 and Im just learning Im a Supertaster, drives my family nuts. My corresponding sense of smell is also 'Super', my wife calls me the nose. I can smell a fart in a space. I can smell things from 100 feet away if they're unusual. I need to find a job where I can use these skills.

Are we talking about plain coffee? Because I cannot drink that stuff, has to be sugared and creamed. Cappuccino preferably. And even then I cannot fix a cup to my taste, it's always too bitter or too sweet.

It's an acquired taste. Salad's always more or less bitter, but I like it. I got used to coffee, but it must be heavily pumped with cream and sugar (I find sugar doesn't really mitigate the taste, but milk - real fatty milk - does). You can't do the same to beer, and beer with syrup is evil, so I never got used to it.

"They can also taste the bitterness in alcohol, and in caffeinated drinks. Adding a lot of sugar to the drinks can mitigate the taste, and supertasters, like everyone else, love the taste of sugared-up coffees."

Obama sucks Bush sucked most of our representatives and senators suck. Until campaigns aren't won and lost by money contributed and campaign spending our entire government will continue to suck.

They should be able to pay their employees out of the business. Even if it is an NPO they should be allowed to and generate enough revenue to operate. It shouldn't be constantly subsidized by taxpayer money. The idea is brilliant if the station is created with tax payer money but sustained by operating revenue.

Kind of overkill on China's part considering how treatable the disease is these days. Also, there have been squirrels that have tested positive for Bubonic Plague in Northern California. So stop feeding the wildlife, they may be cute furry animals but they are WILD ANIMALS.

I'm a bit ignorant. Is socialism illegal in the US?

Cthulhu spilled his lego box, that's why.

The bigger problem with Citizens United is making campaign donations a form of unregulated protected speech.

No critique of corporations is complete without mentioning Citizens United. Right, let's just make it legal for corporations to straight up buy politicians. That'll be great for the country.

Looks like the freaking Chamberlain... Creepy.

Shoebill Stork...

your post would've been way more effective if you had hired an editor.

What, no swans? Swans are scary!

You missed one:

I have contacts with some cat volunteers and there is a real story about an outdoor cat, an old tom, who one day broke INTO the shelter and didn't want to come out, no matter what. He seemed to have a retirement plan. He didn't even mind the vet, and there was a lot to do - teeth, parasites, digestion trouble - that

Are you kidding? Seriously there are so many reasons to keep cats indoors not the least of which is their own safety. Cats are perfectly fine with indoor life, you can even take a cat that's been an outdoor only cat and they will adapt to be indoors and it's not a painful "oh my god you're denying the cat it's true

Possibly relevant, possibly not: A few years ago, we did get a tip about two popular Vikings involved in a situation similar to the one Kluwe mentioned.
