Unless their last name is Sedin...
OH! No; I wasn’t directing my rant at you! I didn’t get the sense that you were one of the ones with a saviour complex; originally I had a note making that clear, but I think I may have edited it out before I posted. Sorry about that.
Jean-Ralphio?
Thanks you so much for confirming that Army of Lovers wasn’t just one of my fever dreams and that they really did exist.
That would be fantastic. Lucky for us though, she is still with us, ergo she isn’t eligible.
Personal Jesus, obvs.
Completely unnecessary interjection time:
I agree with someone from the famous five, but McClung was kinda all about the eugenics, and I think the others were too. Too lazy/busy to look it up.
Don’t forget sex work! Oooh, and Indigenous rights, and Idle No More, and MMIW. They’ve got all sorts of opinions! Par exemple: did you know that the people in Attawapiskat can just pack up and move if they don’t like it? Mind-blowing, right? At least in the sense that hearing these opinions makes me want to…
Oooh, but be careful they’re not then stuck together due to moisture — right after the plastic money came out, my friend lost one of the new twenties that way when paying for a Coffee Crisp after retrieving his laundry!
There is still clandestine sex work under legalization. It just creates a two-tiered system.
THANK YOU.
Noooooooo! That is the worstworstworst model for us! It does nothing to help sex workers, and it virtually ensures that the only clients we get are those who care little about conflict with the law. And guess what? That’s usually not because they’re freedom fighters!
Simple. Decriminalization. It’s what all sex workers’ rights organizations the world over prefer, and it’s what most of us workers want.
Curious: why are you for legalization (which most sex workers don’t want) and not decriminalization (which we do)?
Ugh, no. Sex workers want decriminalization, not legalization. Legalization creates a two-tiered workforce — those who are able to deal with the often-pointlessly-onerous regulations that are put forth, and those who can’t. It does nothing to stop street-level sex work, but it certainly ensures that police can abuse…
I’m late to this convo (because I was out with other sex workers last night!) so someone else may have said this (I’m having a hard time reading all the comments, TBH), but just in case, but I think you’re misinterpreting what decrim is. It’s not meant to be a way-station between ‘legal and ‘illegal’. Sex workers…
Damn, I really want to star this ‘cuz I know you’re right, but the counter’s at 69 right now, and I’m a fucking child. What to do, what to do?
Yes, it’s right. It’s always irked me a bit.
Unfortunately, many of them are skinheads and UKIP.
