I knew a woman who was likely a sociopath and even after I found out all of the really fucked up things she had done it was still hard for me to accept what she was. It's just so foreign for people to try and understand what it would be like for a person to lack all empathy. It's like they're not really human.

Part of the issue with the idea that domestic violence is private is that relationships with intimate partners and with your children are, actually, really private. Because abuse doesn't start out with broken bones but psychological abuse, and psychological abuse is probably what others are going to witness, it can be

I think it's interesting that Charles Ramsey actually WENT OVER to the house when he heard the screams. If I heard screams, I know I'd call it in but I don't know if I'd venture over to the house—but if other neighbors' reports are true, the cops wouldn't have done anything with that call. It's a shame that average

I don't know her exact sources, but:

It's in the paragraph: National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Domestic violence encompasses far more than just hitting people though. It's a cycle of abuse with many different manifestations. Throwing a can of beer at someone's feet might not sound like assault or battery, but in an abusive situation it can be terrifying. Simple acts of intimidation can slowly destroy people, to

all too often, domestic violence is treated as something "private," a matter between couples best resolved behind closed doors.

I'm glad someone else felt that the 911 dispatcher was dismissive. I can only assume Berry's name didn't ring a bell, but saying hurry before he comes back would have been enough for me to be concerned.

I found this from another article.

Honestly, after hearing the dispatchers complete lack of caring during that 911 call this isn't that surprising. They obviously didn't take this seriously enough especially when knowing there were at least 3 kidnapping cold cases in the city. Disgusting.

"Then our friend Daisy opined that your BFF is an actual psychopath. I think she could at least be a sociopath." You guys really have no freaking clue what those terms mean, do you?

You can outgrow a crush on a BFF of the opposite sex. A couple of years ago I started hanging out with a guy I was totally infatuated with, who friendzoned me with lightning speed. It bummed me out for a while, to the point where I wondered if continuing the friendship was essentially masochistic. But, gradually,

I was just on the verge of defending the friend on the grounds that a country wedding is a pretty broad theme...until she wrote that the friend both admitted that it was intentional and said something as cruel as, "Well, you're never getting married..."

Aww. The MRA is learning to use social justice words to shit in a comments section. Adorbs.

This is not about her sex at all, this was firstly about protesting the Russian church's gradual meld with state power, and then about absurd, outdated punishment that dos not correspond to the offence. If a man had protested in the same way and been thrown in a labour camp, I for one would have disapproved just as

Jez, thanks for continuing to cover this story. After all the "FREE PUSSY RIOT" noise died down, it all but vanished from most media. I'm glad she is still alive, and I hope they let her out soon.

I am pretty much the opposite - I actually have to say something stupid like 'I agree with you but...' rather than outright disagree. Since I don't know you; I understand you mean well - but do not forget the dictionary definition of "Brutally Honest"

I lived in Russia. This is a very typical reaction. Especially people from Chechnya. The police there are VERY likely to blame an easy victim who is a minority to get a major crime covered up. Caucus areas doubly so.

I don't know, you have to consider the source. The guy lives in Russia, and if the things I've heard about police in Russia are to be believed, they make the LAPD look like a fucking cub scout troop.
