Great article, Matt. Thanks.
Maybe buy him dinner first.
It’s hard to explain to the yutes what a big deal this was when it came out. It was a Space Ship Vette for Space Shuttle times, what with the clean sharky lines, “turbine” wheels, and Atari dashboard. I was literally sick with want for this thing when I was in high school! And 250hp may be laughable now, but at the…
That car has more of a sad fish face than I realized before.
Good thing it wasn’t an Aventador or the little scamp would still be in it.
Pretty squishy looking at the front in profile. It’s starting to look like a FoST. Not necessarily a bad thing, IMO. But sliding away from the upright (uptight?) boxy look that made them famous.
That’s something we all have in common.
I would say that C2 and C3 Corvettes were pretty shouty, though. Especially C3.

When you compare a $60k Corvette to a $200k+ Ferrari, the Corvette already wins.
This is peak Chris Farley.
T-tops too. That’s peak Fiero right there.
“Ruthless cost cutter”?
We could all plainly see what it was going to be when we folded it but we still loved it!
I remember this ad! It’s probably hard to imagine now but I was a kid and was very proud of the Corvette for being a “world beater” for the USA. We had the Corvette, the Space Shuttle, and... well Van Halen. All of these fed a pride in the country that was also stoked by politicians of the time. If that sounds (whateve…
Hi, Im from the 80s. Back then we always put apostrophes in the folds. Thats just how we did it then.
It looks like it’s all business to me. No frill, so cool in that way. That’s what I like about it. Form follows function.
There’s a great video of him with this car at a show, explaining it to a journalist. It may have been featured on here before.
