The military does not attempt to rehabilitate people who have asocial behaviors. They just dump the failures and washouts back on to the streets. The answer isn’t the military it’s prison reform and a re-establishment of public mental health facilities.

Baloney. Two of my brothers are military and my bf is a retired career Naval officer from a military family. All three of them will tell you the military’s record on rape is a disgrace.

A friends of mines husband, JAG, told her that a lot of his cases were just women who had “regret” the next day. Massive fucking eyeroll.

I think kids deserve a second chance, but offering them the military or jail is unacceptable. There’s no choice there. A second chance is about rehabilitation and decreasing recidivism. It should not manifest as what is basically tantamount to forced conscription.

Come on. They prosecute at about the same rate as civilians. Most women in the military are too afraid to report what has happened to them. The entire culture is set up against being “weak”, for women specifically.
