I think there is something weird and psychosexual in his inability to take criticism from her. He cannot abide her not liking him - her dissent. At first, it seemed like the usual politician versus pesky reporter war, but it’s not. There’s something about her being female that he cannot stand.

Paraphrasing a comment from another poster:

I wonder if she would have the same support if she didn’t have kids. You know because a woman’s worth is I having a man and she’s only a real woman if she has kids!

It’s one of the many reasons my gay partner refuses to attend these events - they send someone else to them, even though my partner is Artistic Director, because he won’t network and smile when this kind of bullshit is happening. He would have absolutely walked out of that event (as he has done to other events), and

I have a fair few friends and acquaintances (including one mentioned in this article) who were at GDC this year and were at this event - all of them are pissed off and upset at this, and are completely disgusted at Microsoft. A few left almost straight away after walking into the event, apparently, but several said

I’m so curious what field you work in. I’m in the construction industry and this is totally common place.

“If you’re good, you’re good for a girl and if you ever make one tiny mistake, it’s because you’re a girl and not because you’re human.”

Microsoft has a problem with this in general. Friends at Microsoft complain all the time about entertainment at holiday parties and even posters in the hallways. So sadly I'm not surprised this happened.

One of the organizers opened the conference by talking about “Slut Checks”, a term he invented to refer to checking for “promiscuous” (non-secure) wi-fi access points. Then he handed out little

Does nobody else deal with this? Unfortunately in my industry this is every. single. conference. It’s so depressing, as a woman. I’m constantly uncomfortable.

Wow. Same shit, different industry. I was at an ophthalmology conference a few years ago and at one pharma event, someone had hired sexy cheerleaders to...socialize? with the surgeons. Funny story! It was a conference specifically targeting women in ophthalmology.

Having eroticized female dancers at a professional gathering is gross enough, but the “sexy schoolgirl” thing is extra disgusting.

There’s just a lot of them the first round, so we’re breaking them up into a few posts. You’ll see them in the next few days.

I don’t understand what we’re voting for? Which is worse, splitting the check or living with roommates? Both are awful but I think roommates post age 35 is worse.

We also need elections vs erections.

i understand nothing and will vote on everything anyway and then go to the comments and tell everyone that they are wrong

Pie v. Cake broke apart families.

may we never be as divided as the great netflix v. sex match-up of ‘15

Still waiting for my Donald Trump namecalling bracket...

I can’t remember what grade I was in, but one of my high school history teachers here in West Virginia absolutely tried to tell us that the war “wasn’t really about slavery” and that just “happened to be a result.” Keep in mind that we cover the Civil War very extensively here in West Virginia, since it’s an integral
