I have too noticed this odd trend where often times the concept-art looks a lot more interesting than what ever is the finished product ends up being... Often times this is observed, not just with the locations, but also with the fictional beings (eg. monsters).
@No time! There's never any time!: Well, Joe Flanigan is younger, looks and acts the part. Plus he is relatively small-name so his paycheck would leave more room in the film's budget for better locations, props and/or visual effects.
Seriously, they better not to kill off Sully. He's my favorite character in Uncharted! I even purchased khaki pants and Guayabera shirt because it's awesome look for summertime!

I think the point everyone making is that the ads are fine as long as they make sense, are not on your face and fit in the game-world.

Once again, trust the Japanese. The eyes are the key to human emotions... But it's not just the photorealism of them. It's more so about the emotions expressed trough the eyes. The smile, sadness, anger, boredom, everything can be read from the eyes.
