Draymond is so clearly going to turn into one of those ex-pro athletes that balloons up to 350lbs about a week after they retire.

Imagine being on a team that is so good that you can go ahead and be 23 pounds overweight as a starter for the entire regular season, and then 6 weeks before the playoffs decide ‘OK, I guess I should try now’. Christ.
Totally serious.
I really don’t watch any broadcast TV unless it is football season. Suffering through commercials sucks!
When Hulk busted into the ring, I had the same reaction that Thor did!
I think there are two distinct issues here, but with everyone calling both of them “spoilers” the language is warping things.

Eh, for what it’s worth, I’m not comfortable at all with how easily this analysis lets Rob Pelinka off the hook. He’s the frickin’ GM!
“If you believe that Magic was key to the Lakers signing LeBron—and there’s no real reason not to, given that LeBron himself cited Magic being one of his few historical peers as a major factor in the decision”
That strikes me as pure marketing fluff to tell the less saavy or apathetic press corps. No way Lebron made…
I think there’s real reason to believe that, absent Magic, LeBron still signs with the Lakers. I think the credit to Magic is that he didn’t fuck that up, rather than he made it happen. Which is still something, but, like, not much to hang your hat on.
I mean, you’re the guy writing for a sports news website and I’m just an internet commenter avoiding doing actual work on a Wednesday morning, but I get the sense that Magic had literally nothing to do with LeBron getting to the Lakers - LeBron went to the Lakers because it was the best fit for him, his business, his…
So... why is this robot black? Most of the robots out of Japan from automakers have been white.
I bought into Ashford’s motivations due to his actions in previous episodes and this one. Ever since he came on board, he has alway basically told Drummer, “I don’t want to be captain, Camina...) in that snake voice, but every chance he gets, he moves himself closer.
Well the nice thing about the expanse universe is that physics still (mostly) applies. Which means it still takes months to get from Earth to the gate (which is around Uranus*), and so without giving anything away, it also stands to reason that it’s months from *any* of the ring gates to their core habitable planet.
I’m not sure why you weren’t convinced Holden’s plan wasn’t better. Given the technology the sphere displayed in protecting itself, what on Earth would make you think a laser would fix all that? Sure, light still moved, but only because the way light travels is natural and wouldn’t be interpreted by the sphere as a…
In short, I think it was rushed because they thought this would be a series finale and not a season finale.
Back when the show was cancelled (but before it was un-cancelled) the producers had said that this season didn’t have a big cliffhanger, and that it would even provide some reasonable closure.
For people not into sci-fi, my “twitter pitch” is “Game of Thrones in space,” which is not surprising, as the novels’ authors edited and collaborated with George R.R. Martin frequently. It is vast, epic, and yet, deeply personal. The acting, as redmouse points out, improves over time, but can be a little cringy from…
I think the problem with Ashford’s switch and Melba’s lack of clear motivation are both from the same issue: trying to adapt the book to the show. I mean, trying to fit the entirety of Abbadon’s Gate into 7 episodes when the show previously spent 15 episodes on Leviathan Wakes and 14 episodes on Caliban’s War was…
It still leaves you with if you believe Holden is right about one thing how can you not believe him about the other?
I think that’s the problem with this show. It tonally sits, sometimes uncomfortably, between super serious sci-fi drama a la BSG and not as serious, slightly campy 2000's sci-fi like Firefly. For what it is I think it is excellent. The world-building is literally top 5, over *all* media, for me.
By and large, I agree. This was, overall, a good episode in a tremendous season.
