This was where my mind went too. Immediately.

The producer's answered a question which was something like "Are you thinking of introducing more universes soon?" and they answered something like "Maybe, somewhere down the line, yes. But for now, there is only these two in play".
Oh, man. Throughout the episode I kept thinking "This guy's reminding me of someone." And you just nailed it on the head! Thanks!
THEORY: The shapeshifters and the Observers are connected. They either come from another Universe, or... I dunno. Something else.
I saw it. I loved it. :)
Well it's a good thing I've had training. *cracks knuckles* These chickens are gonna FRY!
I see your point, but Close Encounter's story is simpler than Star Wars' high concepts and insane amount of characters. I don't think Close Encounter is art - it's entertainment. It has a somewhat realistic story, yes, while Star Wars is more action-adventure, but they're both great movies.
"And yet, Star Wars inspired people in a way that other big special effects films, like Jaws and Close Encounters, just plain didn't."
Yes, I know. I was kidding. (Damn, irony on the internet really is as hard as they say).
I'm 17 year old now, and Twin Peaks is my favorite show. I have also read, and watched, a lot of sci-fi, though not as much as you - I haven't had that kinda time yet. ;)
I hear what you're saying. I really do. "This was a standard Doctor Who episode" And I agree. It was. The fact that made this one different than all the other "monster-of-the-week"-episodes of the last 5 seasons was that we've had SO FEW of them lately. I mean, hell, there's been nine episodes so far this season, and…
I'm right there with you, Buddy. Best show ever, right? :)
How is Twin Peaks not science-fiction? You've got weird beings from alternate dimensions, rooms that exists outside of time and space and messages from space. I don't know about you, but that goes under "science fiction" in my book... Though I have to admit that you can also look at it as a dark fantasy series, a soap…
It would, wouldn't it?
Hm. Well, I didn't particularly love the first two seasons of Torchwood. They were very uneven, and while I liked the characters, the dialogue and the universe, I found myself despising some of the episodes, and the fact that the show didn't even begin to know what it wanted to be. Now, I've heard that some people…
I... haven't actually watched Sanctuary. ANY of it. It's one of my (albeit few) holes in current television programming. Is it good? Good enough to catch up with, I mean?
Why can't SyFy make a television series about a team of Cryptid Hunters? You know, with a long-running storyline, a lot of mythology and some weird, scary-ass creatures? It would be X-Files meets Indiana Jones meets The Mothman Prophecies. Then they could hire Joss Whedon, Ron Moore and Jane Espenson to hash out the…
Oh dear Cthulhu NO! :(
Well, we'll get half of it, at least. Be glad you're getting that much. :P
With this and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES coming out in 2012, I think it's fitting that we'll all die come December. Because how could humanity POSSIBLY top these?!
