A perfect tablet would be a full blown OS a la OS X/windows/linux. Not some shaved down vaunted Mobile OS that's essentially just a layer for installing "apps", which are mostly just natively run interfaces for cloud databases.

@Mai Work: You're kidding right? There are a plethora of smartphones out there using both GSM and CDMA that are THINNER then the iphone 4, yet they don't get 2 head turns because of it, unlike the iPhone 4. No one is reviewing the physical integration of CDMA into the iphone, they're reviewing the resulting quality

@sullym0n: Last I checked, concepts and ideas isn't the same as development, otherwise every idiot in america could call themselves "developers".

@Mai Work: 1. Inner workings? They swapped out GSM for CDMA. If every phone merited a different review based on what mobile protocol they were on, Gizmodo and Engadget wouldn't be able to keep up.

@Jackstick: They should have just made the entire bezel and display the size of a huge "M". users will learn to work around an "M" shaped display.

@catsmeatpotterpirbright: if you're so disappointed that the new breed of tablet OS's too closely mirror their smartphone counterparts, why not just get a Windows 7 based tablet? Seems like you're complaining about something without really knowing why or what you really want.

@stavosws6: Well if you're going to compare the blanket umbrella of "tablets" as basis of the Xoom copying the iPad, then the iPad is about 16-17 years late, considering the first real tablets started popping out in the early 90's, maybe even earlier.

@Jackstick: Initially, I'm inclined to agree. From just a design standpoint, it's just ugly.

@Galvarez: technically iPhone is a gadget, Verizon is a service, so on gadgetry alone, 8 month old tech shouldn't be on the list.

So basically everyone is saying everything that everyone was saying months ago.

@WheresWinPho: an empty coke bottle to them would be like an arduino to an engineer.

@gary_7vn: I posted a reply below addressing your comment, and I agree totally with the right to communicate and access to that means. However, "access" means doing things within your own power to do it, without hindrance from a higher authority. It doesn't mean the authority is required to provide it as a "human

@ZZZYZZZ: The internet is a not a "human right", because to make that statement would logically force the argument that, before the internet existed, every human on the planet was being deprived of a basic right.

@Gundem: lol. I'm a religious zealot, I guess if you're prejudice about one thing, it's easy to label people something they're entirely NOT. At least you're consistent w/ your overall internet persona of an ignoramus.

@arto7: it helps when you release the needle 3 inches from the window as shown in the video, since the needle barely get's done a 1/4 rotation before hitting the window, and even at the extreme slow motion, it only takes 1 second from release to impact, which indicates that the actual distance is literally a few

@Gundem: I am not religious, but your statements are so unbelievably ignorant it's mind boggling.

@The Squalor Also Rises: I would my original point is obvious as well, but I was simply responding to the article, which clearly inquires why he's on the payroll and what his role is at Intel.

It's the dr.dre "beats" phenomenon. Consumer electronic manufacturers have realized that the only thing better then a celebrity endorsement is to actually say the product was directly designed by it.
