You want to go off the track as straight as possible to avoid rolling, which is generally the worst outcome. Head on is the best way to hit something if you have to, all the crash structure is in that direction. Six feet of hood is better than six inches of door.

I’m a track instructor with 5 different clubs at 2 different tracks, you don’t have to believe me but you should. I’m the CDI for the local SCCA Time Trial program and the Novice Chief for my local SCCA Autox, you don’t need to move your hands from 9&3 even at autox (which has far tighter and quicker turns than any

HPDE’s or trackdays aren’t racing and are a separate category. Until about 10 years ago, normal auto policies actually covered trackdays (most no longer do, so you’d have to talk to your agent and/or go over your policy to know for sure). Hagerty and a number of other groups offer trackday insurance, for $200-$400 you

You really aren’t supposed to shift your hands while track driving (really other than parking lot maneuvers you shouldn’t shuffle or reposition your hands from 9 and 3). The only argument for shuffle steering on the street is that if the airbags deploy while your hands are crossed, you’ll end up punching yourself in

I’ve passed GT3's in my BRZ on the track during HPDE’s, doesn’t make my car faster or better. HPDE’s don’t normally host professional level drivers, and there’s usually as much difference in skill levels as car performance levels.

Counterpoint: In nearly 200 trackdays, the only injury I’ve observed was when the abs on a BMW failed and it went airborne over a crest off track, landing on the tire wall. The driver broke his nose and tailbone (his harness bar also failed). I did see a S2000 catch fire, the driver had minor burns to his arm but went

He was the school’s first black Principal, and if a vocal part of the public has it their way, he could be their last.

Colleyville is an upper middle class suburb. It’s in the DFW metroplex which is a conglomeration of Fort Worth and Dallas with a population of over 7.5 million.

Texas also stopped doing contact tracing and aren’t reporting cases anymore. On top of that, there are no longer federal funds for teachers who have to self-quarantine. If a teacher is sick and they decide to get a covid test and it comes back positive, they have to use their personal days to stay home (there are no

If the ground is being pulled up, the craft is being pulled down (Newton’s 3rd law). All the stuff under the car will be pushed down if it’s being pushed at all.

ECR is my home track! This was a Toyota run event, but I’m an instructor with ECR and drive my 2014 BRZ there all the time (I’ve ordered a 2022 already).

Yeah, I missed the six inches part, makes more sense that you don’t fit at 6'6". Hopefully the new Z is big enough for you since you’re definitely not fitting in the Miata or Supra if you don’t fit in the 86.

I don’t think it’ll be a concern, out of the 2 dozen guys I know locally who autox and/or track them, there haven’t been any issues with the injectors. I’ve got the fewest miles in the group with 75k, the highest mileage is about 160k in the core group with 2013-2015's (there are a couple newer cars at the events,

Mine was new enough to miss the valve spring issue (only effected the early cars 2013 and very early 2014's), two of my cohorts had their 2013's repaired under warranty. I haven’t had any injection system issues, and there are tools but my mechanic friend has a technique for doing that other stuff that doesn’t require

Yes, but the Z is late to the party and the Supra isn’t new anymore (and is a bit forgettable).

That’s surprising, I’m 6' and 265lbs and wear a size 12 shoe and I fit in my BRZ with a helmet on. The seat can be raised and lowered (not a ton but there’s a significant difference between the highest and lowest settings, I don’t think I’d fit if it was in the highest setting).

The standard package if track ready, you just put on track pads and tires and drive. The calipers are big enough to work under track conditions and the car has a LSD (torsen) as standard equipment.

I’ve done just about anything to the old 86 as you could imagine doing (I’ve got a group of friends and we all track and autox them and work on them together).

On the same tires, the 86 is faster on many tracks than the WRX (I traded a 2010 WRX for a 2014BRZ and put in an order for a 2022 BRZ). The 86 carries so much more speed into and out of the corners that the acceleration of the turbo motor can’t make up the difference. Even when the WRX is faster, it’s so much less fun

Pilot sport 4's are not track tires, you can use them at the track but they’re not meant for it and their grip level isn’t high enough at that price point. Some people can’t give up the power, and if you’re just talking about those giant tracks the power is a bigger issue. I mainly run at Eagle’s Canyon Raceway and
