The poor kid. My condolences to his family. That is a sad thing to hear but I can think of worse ways to die.

That's show business!
Others have said it but the Hot Rod Power Tour is definitely one to do. Cruising with 3000 other hot rods is a total blast, meeting the people and having impromptu car shows in the hotel parking lots can't be beat. I took my station wagon, my wife, my four kids and my nephew. We had a great time. The photo shows the…
While I like to get the best mileage that I can it is not a part of my criteria for choosing a car. #1 on the list the horsepower and performance. If several cars have comparable power and performance then, maybe I'd look at the mileage numbers.
I did and it wasn't picked. C6 Corvette can easily get 30 mpg on the highway.
6th gear: great, let's encourage young people to get into jobs that don't produce anything and don't actually make the world a better place. Do they really think we need more lawyers and financial analysts if we aren't actually building products? The service sector exists only because commerce occurs due to demand for…
I wholeheartedly encourage people to learn how to work on their car and you are correct that you don't need a garage to do it. I've swapped transmissions, rebuild carburetors, done brake jobs, changed clutches, painted cars, etc. without a garage. But as time goes by and you save your money a garage is a worth while…
I just tried to check for updates and 5.0 isn't available to me yet. I hope it is soon. Thanks for the write up. This sounds like a really good upgrade.
Yes indeed.
I know plenty of C6 Corvette owners that regularly get 30 mpg. That would be the best car considering all the econoboxes that have been posted.
I see you know the ways of the force.
This sounds like all kinds of fun. I'll let you know what I've done and I look forward to seeing the efforts of others as well as yourself.
Ha ha, so true.
And the Lotus is lighter than all the "performance" cars mentioned so it is the only exception to the rule yet there is the issue were weight is no longer the primary factor in acceleration. That point is about 70 or 80 mph when aero drag is the larger factor.
That's a lot of FWD cars listed in a "performance" category. I don't consider anything a performance car unless it has at least 300 hp and that just means torque steer to no end for FWD. With no Chevys on the list you truly forget the meaning of cheap. Chevy parts are virtually free compared to any import or even a…
Awesome, just awesome. I look forward to your column and the gems of knowledge I can glean from them. Welcome to Jalopnik as a contributor.
Anything RWD that you can fit a V8 in. I have my eyes on the Solstice/Sky. They are going to be a great platform in about 10 years. There will always be Mustangs and Camaros. I may pick up another GTO or two once they are really cheap. The 3 series BMWs from the '90's on up will be good candidates. I'm also thinking…
No, I'm talking infotainment and internal features leveraging maps, goggles and who know what else they have in store.
The gauntlet has been dropped. Now we see what Google will do.
Lulz, good stuff, Matt. You're off to a good start and I'm liking your new changes already yet I still miss Ray.
