On the nose. I do not live to work. No one says on their death bed, "I wish I'd spent more time at the office."

I grew up poor as fuck. The toys I had when I was 5 or 6 were almost all stolen. (I found that out when I got to give them back.) I didn't go to college - not enough money. I got a job for $9/hr right out of high school and thought I was livin' large.

I'm kind of sick of the notion that every woman in tech wants to be Sheryl Sandberg. I don't give a shit about the C-level executives. They run the business I work in, and I am a cog in the machine. I get my hands dirty. I break stuff, and I put it back together again.

Jolie, you are a national treasure.

Eris, Queen of the Lap approves.

When I've shared a bathroom with a roommate in the past, I've had "my" drawers and shelves and she had her own. It's still sketchy as hell to go through her things looking for things that might "trigger" her.

Sara, I am intrigued by your religion idea and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

As soon as I started sleeping well and not having nightmares that I acted out in bed (my poor then-husband got nearly beat to death a few times), the PTSD and everything else was a lot easier to control. It's funny - Ambien has made almost as much of a difference in my mental state as my other psychotropic drugs.

A proper diagnosis goes a long way, too. I was diagnosed for years as having major depression, but really I'm more bipolar / PTSD. Getting on the proper meds for that made the whole thing so much easier.

Likewise. It's difficult, but possible for many.

Also a polite gesture: Not gawking at a woman who's breastfeeding. Goes both ways.

Living together in society means giving a little and taking a little.

Some burner replied to my comment that I hope Leah protects herself with, "I think you watch too much TV." The irony being that I watch none at all.

Finding a med combination that works with a minimum of side effects is like trying to find a unicorn in a sewer.

That's awful. I'm sorry.

I have not, but I will put it on my list! Thanks!

One of my best friends does exactly that, and I love her for it.

It's not really the same thing, though. One causes cancer, the other doesn't. One has no modern medicinal use, the other does. There are nicotine patches and e-cigs and gum, but those are mostly used for quitting purposes, and not for "not annoying people around you", whereas there are many non-smoking applications

Mmmm, spicy! My favorite. And Mr Simon puts sriracha on *everything* so I'm sure he'd be down, too. Thanks! :)

I live in Woodinville, but I just got my American citizenship yesterday, and I came right home and registered to vote online. I love technology!
