Thank you so much. That means a lot to hear. Really.

Thank you so much. I'm mostly a lurker around here, but I've been reading Jez a long time and I've always thought you were rad and an awesome mother. The hormones have just hit me really hard and I'm kind of a wreck. I know that should start getting better soon, though.

You and I must be due around the same time. This is my first, and I'm terrified. Tell me it's gonna be okay.

Oh man is that crazy person still commenting here?! They've been doing that for AGES, under several different names. Yes, let's provoke! TEAM ANISTON 4-EVA!!!!!!!!1!

Oof you ain't lyin' about the baby grinning out of the abyss. It's like the Nietzsche quote:
"And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."

THIS IS TOTALLY MY MOM. "Who's that? Is he a bad guy? Why is he doing that?" MOM, PUT DOWN THE GODDAMN SUDOKU AND PAY ATTENTION

Yeah, I came here to say just that. Here's what Mark Wahlberg said:

"If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'OK, we're going to land somewhere safely,

It's actually pretty good.

Inconceivable!

Yeah, they make me fart.

I've been trying to come up with words for why this rubbed me the wrong way, and you did a great job of it. Totally agreed.

Congratulations!
It's been a while since I lived in SF, but the Sunset District was (relatively) affordable, safe, and quiet. And near the ocean beaches.
San Francisco is seriously one of the coolest cities in the world. You're going to LOVE it.

YES. Bob's Burgers is HILARIOUS and she's such an adorable little sociopath.

Come sit by me. We'll be the cool girls rocking the fine, thin hair.

YOU GUYS. Let me tell you about the most upsetting, horrifying true-crime book I have ever read. It's "Doc" by Jack Olsen, and it's the true story of a gynecologist in a tiny town in Wyoming who was MOLESTING AND RAPING women for decades. A very religious, conservative town, many of these women had no idea what he was

No! I want to! I just remember reading all the well-known books, plus "Boy." Actually, I think many of them my dad read aloud to my brother and me. So good.

Wow, thanks everybody, for the replies! Apparently it was originally a short story by Roald Dahl, that was adapted by Hitchcock. Makes sense my mom liked it, we're a family of Roald Dahl fans. One of my favorite books as a kid was "The BFG." I'll have to check it out.

Yes! Who exactly ARE Ala$ka Yxxng and the Dowager Countess? Does anyone know??

Me too! My mom told me once she saw a movie or TV show where the victim was bludgeoned to death with a frozen leg of lamb, and then they cooked and ate the murder weapon. Perfect crime!

Oooh that movie was SO CREEPY.
