I bought a used 530e earlier this year.  Basically, I have an electric car for commuting and around town, and a gas car for long trips, which means never thinking about charging.  I can’t get enough of it.  Operating costs have been low, the car is quiet, comfortable, easy to drive, and plenty fast and fun.

PHEVs are great if you pick one that suits your life.

Some big dealer networks don’t really want their sales people to be all that knowledgeable about the cars. They want they to know the sale process and routine. Fair point, but if it were my job to sell something and there were only 6 different models and 4 different trims for each I would make sure and know more than anyone that walked into the store, jalop or not, whether it was cars or toasters. I’ve known some good salespeople, they know their shit.

I would exchange the CTS-V, its brutish N/A LS engine and stick shift...for the vastly superior STS-V, which had a much nicer interior, was larger, and came with a fire-breathing 4.4-liter supercharged Northstar V8.

500 mile ranges and/or 5 minute recharge times are going to be the tipping point. If automakers can’t get there with a reasonably priced vehicle the EV revolution is not going to happen as advertised.
