And this is why I hesitate to go to a dealer and put my name on a list (Toyota) or place a special order.  I know these guys are itching to sell that car to anyone who walks in the door at the right time.  I’m happy to wait, if I really have an expectation that the dealer will follow through with our deal.

I’m perfectly OK with a car that isn’t going 0-60 in 3 seconds like it seems every other EV is doing these days.  But I’d also expect that lower power to result in longer range.  This apparently brought nothing to the table except decent looking packaging.

Isn’t that pretty much any boat outside of a canoe or some metal tub with an outboard attached to it?

Al Bundy did love his Dodge.

Concur.  Last time I was going to the ER, they asked why I wasn’t driving faster.  Because getting pulled over is going to add a few minutes, best case, if the cop is cool and understanding.  Worst case, we’re stuck there for who knows how long.

It looks to be in nice shape, doesn’t have too many miles, but also wasn’t a garage queen. NP.

Odd that I never knew this existed.  Plenty of people were ponying up for ZR2 Blazers in these days, you’d think the Explorer would get some buyers.

Probably tough to do much better for $4k these days.

Ad also says all the maintenance has been done by the Acura dealer, but the Carfax page shows an oil change at the corner Sunoco. Not saying that is a “strike” but kind of odd.

So like Google Lens?  I’ve never owned an iPhone that wasn’t for work.  So no idea if Apple had a Google Lens.

That seems to be the trend with a lot of these writers. Nothing is good enough except 100% EV. Reducing emissions and oil consumption through existing infrastructure and with something a common person can actually buy - not good enough! My recollection is sugar cane ethanol is a whole hell of lot more “green” than US

Use those batteries to boost Maverick production.

My random sample - scouring local Ford dealer sites last weekend. Seems like any Lightning on the lot is a Platinum or Lariat.

A quick search of the E39 M5 market, and it seems appropriately priced for this end of the market. Less miles and you’re in $40k+ territory.

I’ve been wondering this whole time how people are buying “regular person” vehicles like Mavericks, Tellurides, Siennas with $10k markups.

I think the only thing I’d pay for is an actual self-driving capability that requires regular updates to its maps. Someone is always working on that, so I can understand why I’d pay for a subscription to have the latest data.

The question I always ask is how they would account for miles not driven in the state. If I take a cross country road trip and drive 5,000 miles, and 500 of those are in Washington, why am I paying Washington state tax on the other 4500? I didn’t use Washington roads. If I have a gasoline powered vehicle, I’m paying

If the head gasket had been sorted, I might be inclined to do a NP here.  But assuming it is still lingering out there, I’d offer less.

As usual, with 125 miles on it, what are you going to do with it? Start driving it all of sudden? That might not be advisable without a significant amount of prep to ensure some rubber part hasn’t disintegrated in the past 18 years.

Same. I think it is cool and interesting. I also recognize it would be a nightmare to maintain and/or cost a fortune to get the 1 remaining spare part in existence that you need. So probably not worth the trouble or the price of entry.
