Congrats on not being poor today?

Most people don’t do that math. My brief stint selling cars was in the mid-00's when gas prices starting going up (above $2 was considered “expensive”).
That is just anything new. I had a new GLB behind me the other day, blinding me with an auto-dimming mirror, in an Outback which isn’t much “shorter” than that Mercedes.
In my opinion the Tahoe/Yukon also look like a good wind gust will tip them over.
Traditional car dealers have occasionally been busted for taking cars in on trade and then not paying off the loan. Sometimes it is true scheming and others it is just bad business, they have no money, and can only keep the house of cards up for so long.
I have tried really hard to understand why a link to an electronic image of a monkey wearing sunglasses is worth thousands of dollars, but I can’t figure it out. Guess I’m just too old.
Jalopnik writers also seem to think $100k+ SUV buyers are watching gas prices. Yeah maybe a few will get sick of “wasting money” on gas if it hit $8, and look to get something more efficient, but it isn’t like they’re going to choose between rent money and filling the tank.
I think the trouble with the Lexus has been that the LX is not an aspirational purchase for the market. The Land Cruiser is “aspirational” enough. This isn’t like the person who liked their Highlander deciding to get a RX next time. The Land Cruiser buyer wants a Land Cruiser.
I’m always amused by the suggestion in these articles that someone buying a $100k large SUV gives much thought to whether they get 12 or 18 mpg. If they cared about the money, they wouldn’t be buying a $100k vehicle. If they cared about the environment, they wouldn’t be buying a large gas powered SUV.
Seems like this thing would be begging for solar panels.
And here come the comments where people inexplicably cheer for the failure of their fellow American workers who seek job security and to maximize their compensation. What kind of idiot would want that?
It sure sounds like your non-union experience sucks compared to union. So how are there mixed feelings?
It is a “LUXRY” beast! Brand not known for reliability, zero mention of maintenance, shitty mods (the 5.0 badge is worse than the wheels for me).
5 minutes if I can help it. Bathroom, grab a coffee, head back out the car. Add on a couple more minutes if I need gas.
They were over by Buffalo until they were bought by Genessee. Genessee kept making Golden Anniversary into the 00's sometime when they stopped.
It was discontinued over a decade ago I think. You didn’t miss much.
Yeah I thought about it after I posted and realized those dealerships would have no problem offering our E2 $50k at 15% interest even if they have no hope of paying it.
Well these two aren’t on the “staff” page, so maybe they weren’t there very long. Who knows.
Genny Cream was a decent college beer. Of course we went for the cheaper (and now discontinued) Koch’s Golden Anniversary beer more often than not.
Getting financing for a $50k, 14 year old used car might be challenge for an E2.
