Agreed with the possible exception of Wendy Carlos...for nostalgia's sake ;)

I would agree. Although maybe they need to get hard drives to perform the score this time ;)
You are welcome! And thank YOU. It's good I am not alone.
Sorry, neither liberals nor conservatives have a lock on rational and ethical behavior. People need to stop identifying themselves with groups and start aligning themselves with free thought. Fanaticism is alive and well on both sides. It has no home in either.
Gotta agree. No matter how superficial or erroneous creationist claims are they need to be answered deliberately, clearly and in a way that points to understanding and not mockery. Articles like this are the reason creationists hold so tightly to their beliefs. No one tries to "convert" a creationist. Typically,…
Actually, 24fps was chosen because it was the minimum speed that could support a sound loop in sound synced motion pictures. Prior to that film was typically shot at 18fps.
Ahem...
I like the fact that the set was curved...it looked like it might be an out and upper section of the station. But yeah, it really felt like TOS or maybe Phase Two sort of thing. I was actually surprised how good things look on the big screen and noticed a lot of additional detail I missed on TV.
One thing I caught in Measure of a Man that wasn't apparent in SD was the shout back to TOS design aesthetics. The courtroom was appointed in red and black and felt - in many ways - like the TOS bridge set. In the big screen it was clear that they were selling the station's antique design (it was the research station…
It was cool. Mostly it gave me ideas for some interesting forced perspective special effects. I just don't know if it qualifies as an optical illusion.
Actually the rack focus blew the illusion for me. When the tape roll in particular didn't fall out of the depth of field ahead of the desk behind it (it's the tallest object of the three) I knew it was flat. Likewise there is no parallax shift when the camera pans across each object. Otherwise, the anamorphic…
Dredd was just so damn good.
Let us hope that our demand for the original will be strong enough to inspire *somebody* to release the original (ish) edit.
Supposedly. I simply doubt his version of events. It makes no sense. Eventually the original archival copies at the Library of Congress (as mentioned in the link) will have to be duplicated to be preserved. Then maybe...
Of course.
It's usually up. Do you need a seed on a particular tracker?
Indeed I do.
Given that a high quality DVD release can be restored from even a moderately well preserved 35mm distribution print, this was a poor excuse. I think Lucas was lying anyway but it still wasn't a viable excuse. There are thousands of prints of this film. Any one potentially could be digitally restored into an excellent…
This is my biggest defense of Bittorrent. TV shows that aren't and may never be on DVD. WKRP in Cincinnati, for example is officially lost to time. Music licenses killed the show (forget the Hallmark DVD version - just don't even bother). I have a safe copy of the original run archived from Umax tape, doubtless from…
Aluminum vs steel. But cars, for example do indeed fare better in dessert climes. California and Nevada are oases of undying autos form the 50's and 60's. Want a Carmengia? Go to LA. They line the streets.
