In my limited experience it is because it tends to either alienate or not interest anywhere from a third to half of your class. The context needs to be right and the examples need to carefully chosen.

I do not agree with Wikipedia at all on functional illiteracy. The definition used by the Georgia school system states that words are recognized and read but that the tools for self learning and self teaching are not present. You'll find that most educators and literacy programs use this guideline. Anyone who can…
The problem with the symbols relate to direct asks argument is that someone needs to know how to code those commands. Further after rewatching Empire and Clone Wars (movie) there is a LOT of text on screens. Paragraphs in some cases. Not just symbols by functions. I would accept that virtually anyone in a strictly…
OK, you win. I want an arachnomobile. I admit it :D
God bless you sir and your arachnopillic ways.
It actually kind of did. They were waiting to make the decision when upstairs said that they would like it. That kind of rushes the punch. I can't imagine a straight Jinks at this point (he really reminds me of a friend of mine - also gay) but I like and trust these writers. It would be nice if upstairs did too.
Wait, how can it effect the story if it doesn't serve the story. That makes no sense. And I'm not surprised how often it happens. It happens virtually once an episode on most shows. And I realize that good writers can handle it - they typically do. But if you have god writers, why do hey need the money saying "You…
The point of having a character who is _____ is that it 1) serves the story and 2) is organic to the setting. I like Jinks and I like that he is gay...almost as an afterthought.
Some of the best animation and visual storytelling I've seen in years. Loved this. Titmouse needs to keep supporting this sort of thing.
Q: What if Indiana Jones continued his adventures in an animated series?
Yes "Root" is accurate but...just a little too on the nose. It would have been apropos back in the late 80's but now...
OK, that's fair.
The name 'Root" just screams 'Help I'm a TV writer and know enough about computers to write terrible cyber fiction". Now the show isn't bad cyber fiction. It's good cyber fiction. So why the stumble on the name 'Root'? When I write my own cyber intrigue and I need to populate it with likely sounding hackers, I…
I'm not sure that's true. But my comment stands. The armor is gorgeous. The execution is flawless. It looks very 5th Element.
Welcome to the post modern era of special effects: when well executed and extremely polished prosthetics and articulated cast armor looks campy. She reminds me of the aliens from Explorers...back when such things were cool.
Even cinema itself. Yeah. Was making the same point myself.
Insectoid mecha dates back to pre-industrial fiction. There is some Greek depiction of automata forged by Hephaestus that was decidedly insectoid. Also the early illustrations of H G Wells walkers were very insectoid. This is more likely something common to the human psyche than anime.
Maybe Luke is just that good!
The Deathstar (1) was essentially the Bismark. Destroying an attacking battleship with a torpedo bomber in battle during war is never murder. Unless of course killing anyone in a war is murder in which case, what can you do.
I think he was referring to the Death Star under construction. But you are still correct.
