The previous Google Pixel Chromebooks were competing against laptops. The design looks similar (keyboard attached but foldable). Also Chrome OS looks more like traditional desktop OS and not iOS etc. mobile / tablet type.

I think it’s competing against the Surface lineup.

Problem is the price for a cloud based OS. Practically useless without a proper network connection and also cannot run full blown serious apps like MS office and PS etc. At that price a Surface Book or Macbook Air are much more competitive.

If this becomes a norm, there is a new market segment wide open for cars. Cars with minimum electronics, no worry about hacking, paying for expensive repairs at dealerships, or shenanigans like what Tesla did. It will happen and I will buy into it.
