Capaldi deserves a whole slew of awards for that one scene alone... absolutely amazing performance.

Just curious why nothing from SF literature is included, such as the Sleeper Service from The Culture series?
I’d move to NY in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Such an amazing place.
Thanks Charlie Jane, that's a great idea. Now off to re-read those Mars books...
Would it have been that hard to get a real actor to play Kyle Reese?
Why, this old man of course!
"Ginger lickin' good!"
Ralph Fiennes is always brilliant :)
No need... I was I bit defensive there (I'd just written a mid-term and was very tired and grumpy). I actually liked Matt Smith right off the bat, but after the Ponds left I felt the show lost something, and Clara wasn't doing it for me. Capaldi just felt like such a breath of fresh air; I like The Doctor as this…
Well to each their own. That's the nature of the show; it changes. I'm liking this run a hell of a lot, and respective of your opinion, I don't appreciate having my tastes declared as 'sad.' If you're disliking the current run so much, I'd suggest you just stop watching until things change again, as they surely will.
In terms of overall quality of each episode, yes. And I say that as a big fan of the Eccleston and Tennant series.
Oops! I meant games of tomorrow ;)
It seems painfully obvious at times how the 45 minute time limit can quite quite hurt otherwise good episodes of Dr Who. This one could have used a solid 60 minutes to round things out.
And here's hoping it's being used for Thunderdome style gladiatorial games!
Here here!
SPOILERS!!!
I agree. I mean, she had some great moments with Smith's Doctor, but I think they realized the Impossible Girl thing just wasn't enough; there needed to be some real development as a character, and not just as a plot device.
I actually kind of prefer that look to the buttoned up shirt one!
I must state three things here and now:
As much as I am loath to use a sports analogy for an SF show, this is a hat trick. The 12th Doctor is brilliant so far, and I think Clara is working considerably better with him than she did with 11.
