Yet another idiotic take on this. <facepalm>
Um, the train is not at fault here. Anyone (or anything) standing on train tracks should expect to get hit.
I understand the complaint but I think it’s very dangerous when you are trying to say someone campaigning for a political office can’t say what can be understood to mean “we should repeal the NLRA and allow employers to fire striking workers” because there’s a law that protects that right CURRENTLY.
I’d like to see more coverage on how this affects/hurts Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. While this obviously is a bid to help UAW workers, there are ALOT of other people outside of the OEMs that are going to be affected negatively.
Not if there’s no menu, no kitchen, and no ingredients.
From the interviews I’ve heard, he sounds like a whiny asshole. All he can say is “Well, the CEO got a 400% raise”. Why should UAW workers get a 4 day workweek? “Well, the CEO got a 400% raise”. Why should UAW workers get a 400% raise? “Well, the CEO got a 400% raise”. On and on. Well, guess what. You’re not as…
I know we all want to believe this man is a saint and his his socialist vision is just and good, but he is most likely corrupt, taking bribes and using union money to buy houses and throw parties just like the rest of the UAW presidents. That is how this usually goes, the president gets paid, and sometimes the UAW…
It looks like it’s a ex-cop car bought by a private individual on the used car market. It looks like there is no light bar on top and the police department decals are not on doors, fenders, or trunk.
Looks like an old cop car, not an active one.
Uh huh.
The focus on CEO salaries is probably good for their PR, and definitely taps into the “eat the rich” mentality...but paying them $1 isn’t going to solve the problem.
Their experienced workers aren’t middle class? UAW workers are among the best-paid factory workers in the country. On top of pay, healthcare benefits are extremely generous (for the US).
The dream of owning a house
You fail to mention that UAW workers pay around 3% of their total healthcare costs. That’s a huge value. Look at what most of us pay and try and figure out how much of your real income would increase if you only had to pay 3% of your healthcare costs.
“There was a time, not too long ago, when a good manufacturing job meant you were set for life. In Michigan, especially, an auto job meant you were able to feed your family, send them to college, and retire with dignity. After decades of steep concessions however designed to keep automakers afloat during radically…
I would say move the operations to Mexico for cheaper MSRP’s but we all know the automakers won’t lower the prices even if that happened.
You know the difference between taking a job in law enforcement, health care, fire suppression, any emergency service, or the military, and the jobs you listed? The willingness to take personal risk on behalf of others. Something I’m guessing you’re not very familiar with, based on your comments.
Good luck with your…
‘”It’s a shit deal. No officer wants to take a life’... Oh, you wonderful person. They do and they don’t care if they do. They are here not to protect you.”
Doesn’t negate the fact that the ones the need protection of ‘qualified immunity’ are far outnumbered by the officers that do their job as well as anyone can expect, given the dynamics.
Removing/adjusting qualified immunity also doesn’t negate flippant comments about cops not caring if they have to kill someone.
Being…
