Actually this isn't true anymore. I'm not sure about other devices but for my (unrooted stock 2.2) captivate they pushed out a invisible update about 2 weeks ago allowing unknown sources. Just found out a couple of days ago from a captivate forum, been enjoying sideloading apps since.

Got my captivate last December off amazon for a penny. It's an ok device, my first smartphone so I have nothing to compare it to, gets the job done for me, doesn't have great gps but I don't use that at all. high end enough that I've never had any problems running any games.

Has anyone had the "create new doc via share" feature work? would really like to be able to backup my notes from my preferred note taking app to the cloud but tried 3 different note apps and it wouldn't work.

I've used this browser and while it is nice, dolphin browser mini is a lot better in my opinion.

It should be noted that as I've used the phone, I've found better apps to do things with, but am so resistant to change for my homescreen that I dig into the system files to find the image from the old app and use launcherpro to change the icon and name of the new app to the old one. So that stock email app, actually…

I actually tried that (for kotaku actually), and though its worked in the past even when set to desktop this time my browser kept redirecting to the mobile version.

Except that AMAZING game I just played took me <10 minutes but from the looks of that trailer it will have a lot more content.
