That is not an empty bottle. I drink rum at my desk. Which is why I have the whiskey glass and steel ball for cooling. The Jacobs claptrap is there to protect my rum supply.

This is my desk at work.
I think Meyers is really great in a planters, but I don't know if it's the usual one or not. I actually don't drink that many super fruit tikki-type drinks.
Apple, Chocolate, Crinkle leaf, some kind of whatever spearmint grows wild around here, usually sold as "spearmint" I actually have no idea. In the front garden I have lemon balm (it's good in some things, but I don't recommend it at all for mojitos) and peppermint. I greatly recommend "pineapple" mint for mojitos,…
I recommend the same thing, but I am irresponsible and want enough mint that I have a 10' x 10' bed of it in the back (4 varieties) and 2 others in the front which are isolated because they fail against the other 4.
I don't like Goslings, but I am also not good at describing flavors. It's too...sharp? Acidic maybe? It's definitely not preferred for me for a dark and stormy even though that is the traditional rum used for it. If you can find it I would suggest maybe Skipper Rum. It's got a white label with a picture of a guy in a…
I have a couple of friends that don't like rum, but are big whiskey drinkers and actually go to Japan every year, so I've had several but I don't remember their names. Each one they've brought me has been very good so far. My favorite non-rye whiskey by far is usually Irish. I've had the 21 year Bushmills several…
Well put! I was stating a personal preference. I also prefer rye whiskey to scotch, but it doesn't mean scotch is bad per se, just not for me. I was just saying that I would like to drink a quality rum before a quality whiskey. I don't think they're comparable in most cases either. It's apples and oranges.
never heard of it. I just brew my own.
oh man I'm jealous. I've never tried it but I got addicted to Bundaberg ginger beer while in new Zealand. We can't get it in the Midwest.
Whaa? Which one? I don't like them until you get at least the X.
They do it with additives instead of aging, which is why they can do it for the price. But at that point I try not to care cuz they are damned wizards.
I have, it's great but it did not do well in my garden. The other mints won. They are some voracious little fuckers. I am thinking about putting it in a separate garden this year.
That 23y Solera is great, and you can find it for really reasonable prices sometimes.
Mt. Gay's lower end stuff is pretty....low end. But their aged rums are really great. I don't think they hold a candle to Appleton Estate though.
Ugh Kraken is rotgut. I like black rums and spiced, mostly. A great cheap fallback is Sailor Jerry's. I always have a handle of that around for big events where I am making a lot. If you want something similar to Kraken that I like a lot was actually Captain Morgan's Tattoo, it was equally as cheap but did not burn…
My favorite is to do a mix of several types, depending on the rum. (can you tell I drink a lot of these?) But I like a variety called apple mint as a good all-rounder. It is a type of Spearmint with the big leaves that grow tall.
Smith & Cross is pretty good for the price. If you want a good mojito without a lot of sugar then this is a great choice.
I collect and test rum. I have hundreds, and have tried hundreds. Prusser's is a really great way (and a really great story) to get people introduced into the world of rum. I think it's excellent for making cocktails and high quality rums beat most whiskey for drinking straight in my book. I use this for reference…
Are dicks supposed to have fingernails? Is mine different? Are they supposed to come from your bellybutton!?! OH GAWD WHATS WRONG WITH ME?
