My wife still tears up over the Doctor and Rose. That got her so hard that she didn't like the rest of the Doctor's companions during the Tennant years because she always felt they were trying to replace Rose.

I see where you are coming from on this, but I read another article where somebody pointed out that this would be problematic. While they likely explained it better, their point was that it has been explained that Time Lords have a limit as to the number of regenerations they get because after that, things start going

Two things.

Hell, they even played President Lincoln. I used to think that the reason Hollywood was recruiting so many foreigners to play action roles (Jason Statham, Superman, Batman, Clive Owen, Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman, etc...) was because American wasn't able to produce the those tough badass actors like we used to, you

I'll support that. My wife hated Donna, but I thought she was a great companion, especially after the romance with Rose and Martha's romantic interests in the Doctor. It was nice getting to see the Doctor running around with a "pal" again.

I haven't seen that show, but his portrayal of the Marquis de Carabas shows that he has that certain non-human quality that you need to be the Doctor.

I disagree that my numbers have no use here. I posted this in another thread on this same page:

It used to be The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, Muppets Take Manhattan, Muppets from Outer Space, The Muppet Treasure Island, The Muppet Christmas Carol, etc....

I was recently corrected in another thread as to the cross-gender issue. I have since retracted that point and I feel that there is no real reason, beyond the show runners not being able to write for a female or concerns about how the audience will handle a female Doctor, to not have a female by now.

It had all of the pieces, except it also had Seth Rogen. I don't care if he wrote, directed, financed and best-boyed that movie, he shouldn't have acted in it.

Ah, thank you. I have been wondering about that for a while. I just noticed that Neil mentioned that he had made it canon so I was working off of that presumption. To be fair, if cross-sex/gender regenerations were possible since the classic Who, that kind of negates my argument as to that point. I guess the fact that

Having just seen this cover for the first time, I love the idea that a retired Bruce Wayne just hangs around the house in his batsuit.

I would like to clarify that I would really like to see them mix it up a bit. I think that a non-white or a non-male or a non-white female Doctor would be great. It might be exactly what a 50 year old show needs to stay relevant.

The Doctor is not British, but the show is. It seems likely to me that the show runners will continue to draw from the British population for the role of the Doctor and, therefore, they have a statistically higher chance of having a white Doctor. Even if there is a one-in-ten chance of having a non-white Doctor,

It is hard for me to comment on that. I can definitely see how a non-white person, especially living in America, could want to see more non-white actors and characters getting roles. I have also seen some pretty good black actors on British television. However, I also feel like there is, to some degree, a feeling like

It has been said by others in this thread, and probably better, but the reason people want to see a non-white male Doctor is because a Time Lord is not a human. When they regenerate, they are the same person/Gallifreyan as they were prior to the regeneration, but there is supposedly no limit as to how they can appear.

The biggest thing people need to keep in mind is that this is a British show. True, it airs around the world and I don't have statistics as to which countries make up the biggest viewing segment, but Americans can't expect another a show from another country, especially one that is over 90% white, to use a black actor

No, Britain is not 90+% male, but as I mentioned, it was only in Neil Gaiman's episode that it became canon that a Time Lord can change sex. The Doctor started as a man and therefore, it seems logical that he would remain one. Now that it is canon, I expect that the doors will open for females to start getting the

Not so funny when you realize that Britain is 90+% white and that it has only been canon (according to Neil Gaiman) that Time Lords can change sex for a couple of years.
