Pretty much what they told me, and to get pregnant as soon as I could!

Oh fuck the pain threshold shit. On that front, you just can’t win if you’re a woman.
Jesus!
me too! i live in france and i am always like trying new cheeses at the market when i can. my favorite as of late has been port salut. strong taste and soft texture, but does not taste like farm. :D
I’m “lucky” that my doctor has seen just how much I’ll tolerate when it comes to pain & discomfort (I got mono & didn’t realize it - chalked it up to the flu, took 2 days off work then just kept trucking through it until another doctor had me tested for it - long story). She finally listens to me when I say something…
I had a doctor tell me “Once you get married and have a kid, it’ll go away.” I was 22 at the time. I didn’t get married until I was 32 and have yet to procreate. So I was just supposed to suck it up for the last 20 years??? My second opinion did a laparoscopy and found that my uterus pushes blood into my fallopian…
I didn’t realize that’s how it works, good to finally know what I’ve been doing wrong this whole time!
What I love about this is that it’s sort of common knowledge thrown around in medicine that women have higher pain tolerance. I can’t speak to the established validity of that, but I’d love to see men handle it. I’d also love to see a man handle the pain of a medical abortion or a very problematic IUD insertion that…
That pisses me off so much. My dad is a physician and he had some professors in med school (granted this was the 80s) who dismissed period pain as imaginary. He was like, “dudes, I got a sister and a wife and a mother—they ain’t imagining shit,” except he said it, you know, nicer. They shrugged him off, and he still…
Haven’t studied shown that women have a higher pain threshold? Especially when it comes to chronic, enduring pain? I remember something about ballerinas and constant pain through out performances.
Yeah I got lots of snide comments about “pain thresholds” from doctors.
Any guy who even sees another guy get hit in the balls will wince in pain, and that’s ther shit they throw on you? People like that should have their medical license revoked.
All I’ll say about that is that high end clothes have been donated, and you can get a used basic smartphone for like 20 USD. Worth it if it’s the only connection you have with family/friends.
Of course there was a conspiracy. Horcruxes don’t find themselves.
I remember that happening when I started school at a relatively small Catholic college. all these (really lovely) young men who had gone to single-gender schools were thrown when a girl would disagree with them and then the girls who had been to a single-gender school were embarrassed by proxy. No one was outright…
This is a well-written, thought-provoking article.

So Kristen Stewart is....Taken?
I am torn about this. On the one hand it would be great if we could focus on actual policy issues; on the other, I agree with what I heard Barney Frank say recently: You have a right to privacy, but not hypocrisy.
