To me, this is another example of how the US needs to CUT military spending and reallocate that money to maintaining infrastructure and public transit.

This is frankly bullshit. The idea that an aware pedestrian has never been hit is incredibly stupid. You need to check a number of directions when crossing. This also assumes, as an aware pedestrian, that cars will act in a predictable manner, this is also not true.

You seem to misunderstand the rights and priorities of motor vehicle operation. Allow me to explain:

No every person walking the sidewalks is a rational, logical person. You can educate all you want, but there is still going to be a person that may not be in control of what they’re doing or makes a mistake. If my car can help me avoid killing that person, why not?

This is a good take because drivers are never distracted and couldn’t possibly hit a pedestrian paying attention and legally crossing the road.

Was with you for the first half but assumed the second half was going to be about better driver awareness. Why should ’bikers and cyclists’ (which are the same, right, unless you mean motorcycles which would be even more bizarre) keep to the edge which is statistically more dangerous for them?

If she did make good on her threats, it would have been real awkward when his fellow police officers showed up to burn a cross on his lawn and lynch him.

Capitalism is the path to totalitarianism. It always has been and always will be and can not be anything other. Big C capitalist beliefs must be crammed down on a majority at the expense of a minority and that takes force. If you want to understand this, read Marx’s “Das Kapital”.
